Cruvimaster
Please, fix this. @V2C @DiogoW I think the changes below affected the use of the commented item, making it useless. Deploying most structures will now require the same spacing whether you place the larger or smaller one first. Reduced the required spacing for placing some structures. It is a side effect that needs to be reviewed. It doesn't make sense to spend several days in the caves mining and fighting dozens of spiders to obtain this item and it simply has only one use in AF. Mike23Ua
On Xbox at least I haven’t noticed any significant difference in how closely I can place items or structures, perhaps that was a hotfix that has yet to reach our current build of the game… but as far as AF fossils go I have always used these to intentionally build, intentionally incorrectly built skeletons: I had no idea people were using them to create “Invincible” walls with lol… good on Klei for patching that out I guess. Is there any interest in the game to go to the caves? The answer is no. This is one of the few items that makes it worth spending time there. I see it as a mere mistake made in the last update. And there are other topics here on the forum showing others like the effect of Nightberry. Furthermore, it is much easier to make statues for the same effect. Nothing is being nerfed, but just removing a different option for those who accepted the challenge of searching for this resource by clearing the entire cave. I believe it is a glitch and so I think the developers will fix it. 5 minutes ago, Mike23Ua said: I had no idea people were using them to create “Invincible” walls with lol… good on Klei for patching that out I guess. Fix what if I can use the statues for the same purpose? @V2C, @DiogoW I reiterate my request for the original distance of this item to be returned. There must be more than 70 fossils in the caves and it makes no sense to use only 8 of them (AF). Thanks! Don't Starve Together 2024.06.28 - 15.21.43.02.mp4 This choice exists for a reason and it's certainly not to get 8 fragments to mount the AF. Yeah, it's so that the caves have more rocks, like how surface can have more berries or mactusk. I highly doubt Klei when making the fossils drop stalagmites were thinking about how this option that exists would effect how the creature ai manipulator would work. Just because you can't as easily break the games ai doesn't it should also, for some reason, break it's own internal logic so that a minute group of min maxxers can use it. 27 minutes ago, Cruvimaster said: Furthermore, it is much easier to make statues for the same effect. This is like people pointing out how lureplant cheese wasn't effective as spider eggs did the same thing, like yes there is another method but it doesn't mean that the previous fix also wasn't needed. Cassielu
I prefer to call it "done" rather than "change". At this point the fossil was in WIP state for seven years, and now it has finally been done. Okay guy! And if it was a cheese, they must give the same solution for the statues. By the way, how do catapults not destroy structures? Is this also an approved cheese for Winona? If it was the desire of the developers Ok. But my post is for them. Maxil20
Oh dear, I knew a thread like this would cause issues… Im going to be upfront and say I feel it would be extremely bad if Klei outright just Removed every way to block mobs in this game. While vanilla originally didn’t have ways to make unbreakable walls, every other DLC (and heck Hamlet technically made it legitimate with the hedge walls) had a way to construct/form a group of objects together and make an “unbreakable” wall of sorts. DST amplified this by 10 with sculptures and how useful those are to achieve similar effects in addition to being a wide variety of options to choose from when making the walls. Players have used ways to make walls for a very long time and I feel a significant chunk of the community would be impacted both in practical and decorative use regardless of how you feel about unbreakable walls. I personally am indirectly impacted by this change. Because Klei made placing structures feel much more generous for just about every single one, structures that don’t follow this stand out much more as a result. Fossils need a significant amount of clearing room from anything else and its rather cumbersome to place them when just about every other structure doesn’t need such a wide space to place things. I hope this can be looked into to at least not feel as bad near other structures (like how masts handle it) or just reverting the change would be alright. I'll wait for the next game update to see whether or not this was what the developers wanted. If they were, they would have to do the same thing with the statues for consistency reasons. I will wait. Mike23Ua
Fixing a bug and adding brand new animations where statues realistically can be “trampled” which is what I suspect they will do in that case, are two very different topics. Fixing the bug is obviously easier. while the other “fix” might take years to develop. The games walls have health points for a reason you know? grass wall< DreadStone wall. Cruvimaster
If everything that's happening after the last update is because of the developers' wishes, that's fine with me. Any interest I had in exploring the caves will drop substantially, but if that's what they want that's fine. The caves, in themselves, are already quite irritating. And caves are not ruins, ok!? I'll have to wait for the next update, as it's the only time when there's a manifestation from the developers, even if it's silence. Valase
They can change it back if they think that it is reasonable. I'm on the team "What changes changes and what don't don't", so I will agree on what their stance is regarding the fossil placement, even though I use(d) them with the intent to block pathing, especially in the mooncaller base.
