Why fishes die faster when they are wet?

Recommended Posts

Creatures die faster when they are wet, but why fishes? And it also make Wurt keep her fish pet shorter, due to the wet skilltree perks.

Btw, why can't Wurt feed her fish? She concider the fishes as a pet, but why would you never feed your pet?

Please make fishes lifetime not influenced by wetness, and make Wurt can feed fishes.

Save the fishies :wilson_flower: [I love their design. The regular pond fish have such cute eyes] If they are pets to Wurt she could keep them save and fed. [without making them immortal like ancient DS players kept immortal bunnies in their storage.]

Pretty sure it's an oversight from when pond fishes got changed from basically being raw fish, instead of having a different state like now. It'd be an easy fix though, just needs to be pointed out more (like here) or reported as a bug.

There's a sorta similar bit with ocean fish that this reminded me of, where the Tin Fishin' Bin doesn't keep them wet, despite that being implied as it's why it restores their "spoilage" and they can live while in it. It'd be doable to implement with a few small changes to 4 files at minimum.

I am glad the fish are now allowed be alive instead of this :wilson_dead: so I hope this will be fixed to make it less sad for Wurt to see her fishies suffer.

They do

Ocean fish aren't affected by wetness when it comes to spoilage (or at least shouldn't, there's a flag in place, though I'll verify when I can to make sure).

That said, pond fish also aren't, I might've been thinking of singleplayer Don't Starve, so that's my bad.

I will say it still is kind of strange that Wurt didn't get a skill that let her maintain her pet fish though I guess the seasonal fish would make that kind of unbalanced...

Yeah and i mean you can also feed moles, birds, everything.

but it anway doesnt make sense because FISH die outside of water, and if you love them so much why would you take them in your pocket? this is cruel you will kill them

kinda, but at least they should not die faster for being wet

so I think it should be Wurt only for her actually keep the fishes four days, and fishin' bin need less than 4 day to fully refresh them, so it won't be super OP compare with before

They do, this is why I'm posting this actuallyimage.png.5234fe96322f6f7484841803ee045e49.pngimage.png.a36feec95c52f8479ba15da0c8cbfd10.png

They are both total fresh ones, at least not 30% rotted

That mod is lying to you if you actually tested it in game then you would have known because this fish is wet for 3.8 days in wurts inventory + the time I waited for it to become wet and if the 30% applied then the fish would have died in 2.8 days

Ah, that explains why you're so convinced, that mod doesn't seem to be taking the .ignorewentness flag into account (yes the name of the flag has a typo, don't focus on that).

Spoilage is correctly not affected on both pond fish and ocean fish. That said, there's an argument to be had about making wetness slow down spoilage of fishes that are alive, the discussion should probably be changed to that, since what you're asking for is already the case.

You wanna know what the kicker is? Fish stored in the tin fishin bin eventually become dry. They're stored dry. Dry.

Yeah I pointed this out here:

It's silly, but it wouldn't take much to address.

huh then problem 1 solved, my fault. It comes to the pet problem, why can't pond fish put into Fish Scale-O-Matic, you know, as a pet, if we eventually kill pond fishes for putting them into inventory. Or just let Wurt can feed them, or for only pond fish

They die from being out of the water for too long, not from starvation.

That's why you can keep them in Tin Fishin' Bin forever.
