My idea for more use to Tree Jam

Recommended Posts

Hello, recently I was thinking of more usage of mentioned Tree Jam, and this is what I came up with.

So at the time Tree Jam is being currently used only to create some Great Tree Trunk near your base and if you're impatient, to speed up process of growing up of common trees, or to heal yourself if you playing Wormwood. Out of that I dont see many uses for a item that can trees giant, well at least one of them, and thats the small problem imo.. It takes a lot of work to do to even get this item, first we have to find Waterlogged biome somewhere in the ocean than we have to ram in to one of the giant trees, than defend ourselves against strider spiders and patch our bout if we ram to hard, then we must locate where the Tree Nut fell and fish it out with Pinchin' Winch(that is if we visited Crabby Hermit island already), than we have to take some of the figs with us to craft Jam and take care of planted tree near the coast, and after slapping some jam a few times on it we could enjoy our own Great Tree Trunk, just to have figs used as a crock pot ingredient most of the times. And all this chores just for it to not even cover our base with the shadow if we being not as close to the water as needed. And don't get me wrong, those trees really come in handy if we planning some ocean baseing, but i feel that most of the players don't feel like moving all bse they already set up somewhere else just because ocean baseing under those trees helps with summer, at the time they starting to crete some waterlogged area near their bases they already survived full season cycle. So why not to give all of that more use, just give land tree the large variant. I was thinking that large Evergreen forest would look nice, but as common as this tree is there should be a catch. The only way to make such a tree is out of a treeguard(to at least make it harder and not as common a little bit). First we have to spawn treeguard, than put it to sleep, and than we can put some jam on it a few times and there we have it.

But waterlogged trees spawns figs, and what would this large Evergreen besides of just giving shadow you ask, and here's the answer, I was thinking they would go with build in Mushroom Planter(of course this planet would have to be less efficient in some way so it wouldn't replace normal planters fully).

And that's it basically, with that addition i think people would be more eager to find some of the Figs as early as possible, and the benefits Jam would bring would justify all the steps to get there.

If you liked the idea or you would like to change or add something you can write it in the replies, would be happy to read that.
Thank you

I love it. For atmosphere alone, it would be great.

What's more, is that certain fungi that grow in the forest in real life are sought after as meat substitutes. In the world of the constant, it would be interesting to see fungus type mobs that spawn from tall pines like that.

Gobbler of the forest for one as a constant version of chicken of the woods in irl.

Even if in the name of balance, adding dangers to tall trees like that to offset overheating and wildfire protection, that would be cool as well.

Can these please spawn throughout the world? They give MUCH needed life and immersion, we need forests like this where the trees are actuallt anove your camera.

It would make more sense to create a boss.

Just make it world on normal trees.

It would be kinda cool to have that, but i doubt we will.
- why bother with current water trees / getting winch from pearl at all? People already don't like getting them, don't like using them cuz of canopy screen effect (which you will have too with those trees i guess). Why would Klei give you giant land trees, if they are fixated on correcting the design mistake they call water content, and making people hate it less and use it more. However cool that could be, adding land trees is simply not their course
- growing mushrooms on trees, when they just made whole mushroom planter branch for WW. Same as the above

Why can't we just get rid of wildfires as a system? It's not fun, it just places unnecessary restrictions on players, makes players and devs create one clunky workaround after another.

oh. my. god. This is so good, im all for new giant structures! We need more of those.

I really love this idea. It would be cool to have other kinds of giant trees too. Imagine large desiduous ones with cool foliage that changes colour according to season. They could drop birch nuts every once in a while or just allow you to harvest them. Blooming giant moon trees could shed white petals as a visual effect and sometimes drop moon blossoms. Maybe they could spawn or attract more butterflies as well. I'm not so sure about giant twiggy trees, palm trees or spiky trees though. I don't think they would look nice.

Honestly, not being able to make these in the caves would be enough of a downside. Mushroom planters don't work in winter on the surface (but do in the caves), so normal ones would be your wintertime fungus source if you had these trees.

even if it was only like say on a fullmoon like building the chess pieces give those life on full moons

I'd love that implementation a lot. I'm always starving for living logs in the end game, since my wood farming is almost exclusively palmcones and lune trees, so it'd be neat if every moonstorm night allowed for farming tree guards on demand.

Speaking of Totally Normal Tree

What if you could grow tree guards, poison birchnut trees, totally normal trees  from vegetative reproduction or propagation with living logs

Make friendly birchnutters that will eventually grow into poison birch nut trees with birch, nuts, and nightmare fuel

or tree guards with pinecones and monster meat

also, since this is about fig jam what if you could go it too seaweeds so they produce seaweed seeds rather than just seed shells so that way you could increase the number of them you got to harvest rather than just moving them around
