Winona Skill Tree speculations [A Discussion]

Recommended Posts

So with the Wurt/Winona Skill Tree Update's beta launching in about two weeks, what skills would you like to see featured in Winona's tree? I've seen quite a few people discuss their concerns for Wurt's skill tree, but why don't we give Winona some love too and discuss what changes we could see?

For example, I think it would be interesting if Klei added upgraded versions of Winona's Trusty Tape that would allow her to repair tools and armor! Shadow Alignment Tape to repair things like Lazy Explorer/Nightmare Amulet/One-man Band/Night Armor, and Lunar Alignment Tape to repair things that aren't related to shadow magic (like Weather Pains, Morning Stars and Pan Flutes).

i think winona's lunar and shadow aligment should allow her to prototype items from lunar altar or psudo science machine, she is THE team builder, it would make sense for her to learn to build such complex items without the station, or maybe allow her to make a special station with that effect that only her can use?

they are atleast adressing one of the main issues with winona, her "switch in, make catapults, switch out" so i think people are more worry about wurt because it has less room to improve wurt compare to winona who have so little going on that everything is a buff

I am writing through a translator, sorry if there are grammatical mistakes
I wish Winona had more buffs in the late game, and not just the opportunity to use nightmarish fuel and pure brilliance use refueling. This still doesn't make them useful directly in combat. The same Armored Berger will easily break them, so you will not be able to use them directly in a boss fight.
My idea is for the moon and shadow skill to give pure damage and protection not only to Winona herself, but also to her catapults. This is the first thing. And secondly, need to make that the catapults can be repaired, and not to rebuild them. Let them still break completely at 0 health, but if the boss walks over them, they will break like a Large Chest. They won't break down completely. They can be restored. And they will need to be repaired with a Trusty Tape. This will motivate the player to use catapults even in boss battles, as well as to wear a Trusty Tape at all times, rather than storing it at the base.

I think this would fit Wanda alot more.

thing is, wanda already have easy access to both stations later on thanks to her teleporting watch, she is all about time manipulation and clocks, winona is the lady that builds machines and fix things.

wanda is better suited to learn how to manipulate seasons and time of day yet they give the lunar cycle perk to wickerbottom, the resident "witch"

Wanda's gimmick is about getting things done with the least amount of effort not wasting time as it were so it definitely fits her better. Winona likes to build things but it doesn't really make sense for her to be able to store ancient knowledge because of that heck Wilson likes to build too and he's even somewhat successful at it too if quotes are anything to go by so if Winona makes sense so would he in this situation.

tbh as far as keeping ancient knowledge goes, Wicker would suit the most, probably. The Everything Encyclopedia deluxe.

I think it'd be cool if Winona could repair structures that have been burnt down or been broken with duct tape or maybe even her bare hands. And an upgrade to duct tape where they can make any structure more durable. You'd be able to apply tape on her generators for example, and it'd have a sort of vine-like wrap around the structure to show that it's been reinforced.

(It would be duct-tape art layered on top of a structure so artists don't have to draw a "wrapped" version of every building)

A few winona exclusive gadgets could work.

For example :

A vaccuum cleaner for quickly picking up items (Faster than the lazy forager) so you dont waste time gathering the chopped wood and pinecones, or for simply cleaning up the base. Recharged via generator.

An ice maker. makes ice for fuel.

Or maybe she could upgrade existing buildings in exchange for them having a battery.

Like drying racks having more slots and drying stuff instantly in exchange for power.

I remember I said that burned structures should be repairable by Winona and I got waves of human gnats attack me and threaten me

-More crafts would be cool. She is a factory worker and a builder, so let her shine in those respects. Let her make paddle wheels for the boats, roads like the ones in Hamlet that power lamps at night (connected to the generators for less energy use), machines the irrigate the crops automatically, etc...

-Improve her spotlight for it to be useful. If it's light radius included the whole cone of light and you could point them in one direction and stay put they would be perfect.
