What makes Wurt a survivor?

Recommended Posts

I think it’s up for speculation. Wurt’s introduction animation implies that the other survivors weren’t familiar with her prior to that event, so I assume that she was around in DST’s “canon” shard before everyone came together. Time passes strangely in the Constant, so who knows how long she was actually there before the events of DS? I assume whoever has control over the nightmare throne still has the bulk of the control over the Constant, so it’s most likely Charlie retroactively including survivors that weren’t pulled in from outside but are smart enough to thrive, like Wormwood and Wurt. Considering she took over the portal / Florid Postern, it doesn’t seem too farfetched that she’d be able to dictate whether someone can keep respawning through it.

Does Alter have control over it when we upgrade it? :crushed:

Do pigs and merms retain their names when they respawn?

I mean if we consider ingame pig names as canon then having multiple willows or wilsons (or any other)  in the same world with different names surviving together should match well with what we are seeing from pigs and merms!
Also the pig with the same name will eventually respawn at some point in your playthrough.

We can assume every creature has a revival ritual somewhere in the constant like amulets and touchstones, so immortality in the Constant is real. We are never sure if souls of creatures there find a way to revive or get rebirthed, but there's some sort of sorcery involved to also keep even sentient creatures to find ways to come back from being ghosts, in a slower way.

Animal names could be a joke or creatures renaming themselves as to conceal their identities, but I might be wrong and every time we see a new house's creature respawn it's just a new resident that found home there?...

I think it's safe to make up the canon why that happens, it's just one of things that Klei might not explain and let us interpret it in whatever way we want.

No. You guys are also taking game mechanics far too literally.

Why can we assume that? I'm not aware of anything that would support that theory, but the fallen survivors seem to go against it as they're not here any more.
