Is it too late for the twins?

I really like the boss. The main issues it faces is that it is honestly one of the most threatening bosses while spawning completely randomly. This is not comparable to terraria. If I remember right, in terraria it spawned on people who have progressed far enough to have 200 hp, 10+ defense, or developed to a point where they had some stability - it didn't spawn on some day 1 Wilson. That's one glaring flaw. The fight itself is dynamic and a lot of fun so I don't think needs much change. However I am all for laser beams and fire shooting.

The only requirement to have naturally spawning twins in terraria is break an altar, which normally will only happen in hard mode, so they may spawn as soon as hm night 1, the thing is that terraria is way less likely to be played individually on multiplayer like dst public servers, also for some reason the twins can target a dead player on dst.

I think that how they naturally spawn in Terraria is irrelevant because they don't naturally spawn in DST. The only way to spawn them in DST is manually using an item, and if you manually use the item in Terraria they spawn on top of you. It isn't authentic to how it works in Terraria, it isn't good for new players who just die randomly due to no mistake of their own, it isn't good for people who are trying to spawn the boss since they can literally go over an entire real life hour without seeing it a single time (and even when they do see it they might not be able to kill it in one night so who knows when they see it again), it's good for nobody.

I have no idea why they made it work like this. They changed it away from how it works in Terraria just to make it annoying. At least with other things they do I disagree with I can see where they're coming from and can see potential benefits other people's opinions might be, but I honestly can't think of a single genuine good reason for it to be like this.

I can see the reason. Klei wanted to do the funny. a lil bit of trolling.

Yeah I also think it's irrelevant how they spawn in terraria, eye of cthulhu and twins should spawn near the terrarium, not on little Timmy who just spawned in and is trying to make a torch.

before brightshade/void gear exist, shield is my everyday carry.
it is good on that era, pre-rift, just because the refuellable aspect.
but now probably faster i turn on rift by rushing cc than gathering my willingness to fight twins for multiple night.

i dont think shield is a bad drop but their valuable aspect now can be obtained on other armor that does it better and not break at 0%.

Like I have mentioned multiple times and especially now since rift gear doesn't break everyone can see how convenient it is and how bad it feels to be punished when shield of terror is practically deleted.

I wanted to love shield of terror (before I became a Wanda main) but its low durability and it breaking at 0% is just too much. Don't get me wrong, it isn't difficult but there is no fun involved especially since the fight itself is terrible and re-obtaining the item requires you to fight one of the most annoying bosses in the game.

I don't really agree with any item that can be refueled breaking at 0%, why are players required to pay so much attention to every little thing in DST? I am going to be pulling a Mike game comparison here, when I play league of legends a very competitive MOBA game I can be more on autopilot and for fun at higher ranks than DST, having to be that focused and observant drains the fun out of a sandbox non-competitive game for me and doesn't make that much sense.

Another thing I want to add is that shield of terror should probably be upgradable to receive planar damage/defense or maybe both. Brightshade gear is already very easy to repair and quite cheap so it doesn't hurt to have more options.

Snip

Yeah, as time goes on I want to spend less and less time on possibly making a new piece of refuelable gear just because I got distracted before it broke.

DST is already a very draining game due to the constant focus needed in a lot of scenarios so I don't see why stuff like moggles, the magi and shield of terror should break.
