How are you guys doing on inventory management with all those new items they added?

Recommended Posts

I find myself being more overburdened than ever. Do note, I ONLY play Wanda though.

So my question is, how have you guys been managing your inventories lately, with all those new items? Is it time to think about additional inventory upgrade items for future bosses?

feel like space is getting more and more limited. And even with a Krampus Sack I am really struggling with space basically at all times.

With all those new additions, I find myself additionally carrying at all times:
1x Umbralla
1x Brightshade Helmet
1x Polar Bearger Bin
1x Dreadstone Helmet
1x Dreadstone Armor

On top of my already existing "essentials":
1x Celestial Crown
Bundling Wraps
1x Alarming Clock
2x Ageless Watch
1x Backstep Watch
2x Backtrack Watch
Grass
Twigs
Flint
1x Lantern
1x Dark Armor
1x Thermal Stone in Winter or Summer
1x Eyebrella except for Winter

I already try switching in and out items like additional armors when I don't need them like when I have to face bosses or am attacked by brightshades or hounds or whatever. Or I have tried to go without grass etc. But man it's really not easy if you pair it up with adhd and constantly forgetting things and having to go back (maybe one of the reasons I play Wanda haha, because being so forgetful is not as punishing when you dont have to spend 15 minutes just walking back from the ruins to the surface because you forgot living logs again.

i didnt play wanda for a while so idk what i would do for armor (you are carrying a lot of armor pieces) but for wormwood i just have:

CC crown

umbralla (i dont use eyebrella anymore)

walking cane

BS armor and helmet

BS sword

bundle wraps

BS staff

rope

grass

twigs

beef bell

BS repair kit

LGAmulet

miner hat

bearger bin

star/moon caller staff

honey poultice

compost wrap to heal and rebloom

BS pickaxe (i could stop carrying this but i dont mind)

i have plenty inventory slots plus i use bundles to carry stuff when building

if i was you i would consider chosing the 2 armor pieces you find the more useful and dont bring flint with you, i dont think there are that many situations where you will miss it

we need more items like the bearger bin tho

Currently I use Wormwood and my main inv goes like: 1 grass stack, 1 twig stack, lantern, brightshade smasher, golden axe, brightshade sword, 2 brightshade chestplates and 1 eyebrella (6 empty slots).

On my krampus sack I have: 1 starcaller, 1 wrap with lightbulbs, 1 polar bin, 1 stack of compost wraps, 1 stack of bright kits, 1 stack of jellybeans, 2 brightshade helmets, 1 spectackler box, 1 stack of trusty tape and 1 stack of desert stones (3 empty slots).

I have a crown and a cane equipped, I don't really have an issue with inventory when using Wormwood, but I do recall Wanda using a LOT before.

Personally I use

1 weather item/ season (aka thermal or umbralla)

1 planar armor and (usually brightshade hat)

1 non planar armor (bramble or nightmare armor but mostly my true love bone armor)

Celestial crown

Lantern/starcaller

Brightshade sword

10 brightshade repair

Polar burger bin (replacing bundles)

Obligatory walking cane

No bundles actually considering I rarely need them and so no grass and twigs, I suppose you could put those with flint in a bundle and drop the dreadstone armor entirely

I keep a bundle of brightshades armor weapon and repairs, brightshade smasher outside, bundle of food, bundles, rope, lantern, celestial crown everywhere that's not dangerous. That's it. I try not to overburden myself with basic materials since they became useless for daily use unless for building. Occasionally thermal since it never was not useful to keep around at harsher seasons.

Wanda is a character with a lot of watches that burden inventory ever so more. I'd suggest bundling most but one age watch or have a battle-ready bundle as your essential and a food bundle.

As for Wanda specifically, I wouldn't necessarily consider the step watch or the second ageless to be an essential to carry around all the time, for emergency siutations the teleport watch indirectly gives access to those two and much more anyways. Or in other words, I could say I like to view the teleport watch's second purpose as an inventory saver and I prefer to use that aspect to its fullest potential.

currently for my long term wanda world i do:

3 ageless

2 backsteps

2 backtrecks

alarming clock + stack of nightmare fuel

2 bone armors

warbis helmet

stack of twigs and grass

stack of purple gems for rift watches

lantern

star/moon staff

lazy explorer

bundle with void gear and repair kits

umbralla

celestial crown

polar bearger bin

with a krampus sack that usually leaves 6 open inventory slots

i keep all my tools in shadow chester

On Wanda I only carry the brightshade gear if I'm planning on doing something specific with it. Alarming clock is perfectly capable of clearing brightshades, and the howlitzer is a better off weapon.

Alarming clock

Walking cane

Howlitzer

Polar bearger bin

(Thermal stone or rain protection if needed)

Backtrek to base

2x ageless

NMF stack (probably don't need to always carry but I forget to fuel alarming)

Enlightened crown

Night armor

And 6-8 slots for grabbing stuff / eye bone / spare night armor

With wormwood:

The first 5 slots from the inventory:

  • Bs-Sword/Lazy explorer (one of them stays in my hand slot)
  • Bearger bin with food food and sanity food and thermal dishes (I pay my Warly taxes);
  • Malbatross Watering can for emergencies;
  • Bs repair kit;
  • another Beager bin with spiced Powcakes.

The Last 6 slots from the inventory:

  • Bramble armor for extra damage;
  • CC crown/BS helmet (one of them stays in my head slot).
  • Compost wrap (slowest way to heal but more effective than the next);
  • Honey thing (quick way to heal);
  • Jellybeans spiced with garlic (only in emergencies too, quick eating+20% defense);
  • Star caller for longer fights or working periods.

And inside the Krampus sack I have one stack of spoiled fish to bloom once I get out of the max stage.

My tools and bundles(Usually the thermal food for the oposite season) are in the shadow dimension and every time I swap to Maxwell I make more chests around the map (usually around my high traffic areas so I can deposit other things too).

Also I just tank the rain(using Warly dishes to heat up) and find shelter from the hail(I like seeing it fall down), and yes, it killed me more times than I like to admit.

I'm still thinking about keeping the jellybeans inside the second bearger bin, but I end up forgetting to use it.

i just go around with the scythe, void cowl, 2 bone armors, bundling wraps, bearger bin, ropes, lantern, walking cane, celestial crown or how it is called and nightmare fuel.

And that's it honestly, i don't have anything else to say.

Brightshade helm with the repair kits,

all the brightshade tools (pickaxe, shovel, sword things)

golden axe

Golden pitchfork

W.A.R.B.I.S body armor (with the repair kit)

The polar-bearger-bin for food an all that

Bundling wraps

Celestial crown

Lantern

Walking cane

walking cane

howlitzer

enlightened crown

beefalo bell

bundle (rope, wax paper, food)

aside from that i just quickly run to base to grab whatever i need for any specific task

I dont get why you'd carry twigs flint and grass in a post CC world

I carry

Polar bearger bin and Starcaller staff

Umbralla and BS pickaxe-hammer

Bone helm and Lantern

Magiluminescence and Nightmarefuel

Both types of repair kits

Void Cowl and shadow reaper

Maybe bundling wraps

Howlitzer and BS helm

Lazy explorer and Celestial crown

I could definitely drop the BS helmet.and the bone helm

I play Wanda a lot, and she really pushed me to a more minimalist / purposeful inventory setup.  Since she refuels her clock with nmf I found good synergy with other refuelables like magi and bone armor.  Doing this I stopped using a back pack unless I really needed the inventory like clearing ruins or something.  Even then a backpack is more like a mobile chest, I don't actually run around with it much at all.  Magi gives ms boost and light source so I don't use a lantern either.  Returning to get lightbulbs isn't a big task... but nmf is everywhere lol. I'll use night armor until I get bone, but with dreadstone helmet extending its life I don't use too many of them and once I have dread + bone I don't need any mats for armor.  1 stack of nmf is light, damage, and defense.  Once we get to planar I'll pick 1 set to use and carry its repair kits still keeping my inventory space low.  Early game I'll carry a stack of cooked monster meat or blue caps, but once I have some teleport watches and bone helm I switch to meaty stews or scotch eggs and just fill up before I leave base.  2 days away, possibly +2 if I take a dish with me... unless I'm doing something big like toad I really don't need more food then that.

My general purpose inventory is usually

1-2 heal watches.  If I know I won't have combat, like I'm boating or chopping trees then 1 is plenty

1 alarming / scythe, I don't carry both at once.

1 walking cane

1 dreadstone helm / planar armor

1 bone armor / planar armor

1 magi

1 stack nmf

1 teleport watch back to base

On a Wanda solo world, my main inventory consists of the following:

-Walking Cane

-Enlightened Crown

-Brightshade Sword, Helm, and Repair kits

-Lantern

-Bone Armor

-Howlitezer

-Ageless Watch

-Polar Bearger Bin (The bin contains a hunger and sanity food, usually tall scotch eggs/banana shakes, hot dragon chili salad, fish corden bleu, pepper spiced volt goat chaud froid, and honey spiced jellybeans)

The krampus sack contains the following:

-nightmare fuel

-a second bone armor

-a backtrek watch directly to my main hub

Umbralla (which I might fizzle out due to the above fish corden bleu)

The shadow storage Kinda Discount ender chest my beloved <3 contains the following:

-Grass, Twigs, Logs, and Flint

-Brightshade Smasher

-Weather Pain

I find this setup to be more than sufficient for day to day activities. If needed, I can stuff the krampus sack with items I don’t need (Ex: put all my combat related items when I’m picking up resources), and pick up an emoty krampus sack at said location, or add things like a second ageless watch when I’m doing something like the ruins.

Cause I basically always base build and constantly need tools to remove trees and dig up stuff, dig turf. If I constantly have to walk back to pick up a tool I never get anything done

That's what the new tools are there for! They save on space by being repairable, the kits are not just for the armors.
A BS pickaxe + hammer and the BS shovel + hoe paired with a glass axe OR a pickaxe/axe are enough to last me for a while
Besides re-turfing areas, but I tend to do that with the antlion hat and an empty inventory to carry the turf afterwards

post cc i didnt bring any twig grass. just ropes for rebundle.(1)
bright shade headgear, sword, smasher, staff and repair kit (5) (i might change the bs staff with howlitzer at some point but i havent find the needs of it yet)
void body gear, umbralla and repair kit (3)
some bundling wrap(1)
one bundle where i place my voltgoat jelly and cordon bleu. (1)
bearger bin (1)
star/mooncaller (1)
eyebrella (1)
excluding the lazy exploler and crown that almost always worn on hand and head slot.

if play wanda -1 alarming clock, stack of nm fuel, 1 ageless(i never bring more unless i want to fight something big like CC), 1 backtreck to portal hub. backstep is available in places where i fight giant that need it. so i didnt carry around when not fighting.(4)

its the most necesarry item i carry around so 14 to 18 slot used (if play wanda).
so i pretty much have so many slot open with krampus sack. so i can carry around another situational item that suit what i do at that moment.

In my theoretical perfect end game world:

-portable ice box from the newest update

-brightshade sword

-brightshade helmet

-bone armor

-lantern

-enlightened crown

-repair kits

And that's about it. I picked brightshade equipment as they're so much easier to get instead of dark tatters. While my inventory will generally fluctuate between seasons, this is just the bear essentials I have so that I've room for other things.

As Wormwood I carry :

10x Brighshade Repair Kit

1x Polar Bearger Bin

1x Lazy Explorer (Hand slot)

1x Brightshade Sword

1x Brightshade Helmet

1x Bone Armor

1x Umbralla

1x Enlightned Crown (Head slot)

40x Pure Horror

and a Krampus sack (Body slot)

that's it. I also have constantly 3 bulbous lightbugs with me as the healing from the photosyntesis counters the 30 health every couple days to respawn them so it's permanent light in case I don't have the sanity. And the helm for emergency.

I also add a single torch and a thermal stone in winter, I can go the whole season with 1 or 2 torches just by burning the random tree for 90° temp.

In summer I have 180 summer insulation total from the perk so I just do a quick visit to the nearest active Ice Crystalyzer with a thermal stone in an ice box for -10° temp.

I manage my blooming with 2 and 3/5 Super Growth Formula from the closest farm. I usually set up the 3 I need by day 150. It lasts for about 8ish days.

I heal also with 3 to 4 tents around the map but if I hit below 50 which rarely happens I take a garlic jelly bean from the bin and move one. If the healing outruns the fight I craft living logs and call it a day. Usually the bone armor makes it very hard to take damage that's why it's better carrying it than the Brightshade Armor.

I don't think you can be more optimized than this. If I need a Pickaxe, Axe, Shovel, Bundle, Lazy Forager, Reaper etc.. I just take it before using it and leave it at base.

Early game i use Chester for Gold+ Hammer and add Grass and Twigs, the Eyebrella, Eye Mask, 20 Living logs and 40 Fuel.

The problem is that you're carrying too many armor sets and useless light sources, Also you don't need grass, twigs and flint if you have the brightshade helm+CC crown. Also no need for Eyebrella if you have the Umbralla.
