while bite sized crossovers arent bad..i dont know klei seemed to put more interested in the terraria one than the cult of the lamb...and in cotl kinda of did the crossover better

That is due the fact that usually people hype things way to high, and then get disapointed when the thing is just good, instead of some magnum opus.
Well, I think that it is because the items you get in COTL, even if they are decorational, you get them in a bulk, while in DST, you get skins and itens from three different sources (sword, chests and lamb from logging in, that fern pot skin by watching streams and the altar, crown trinket and two new turfs by doing summer things), but I'm not a dev from either games to know if adding Weeber to COTL and the Lamb to DST would be the same amount of work. Actually, I don't even know how easy/hard it was to make any of these changes in either games.
So I think that overal the crossover was satisfactory!

I personally dislike cross over stuff in any game. Dead Cells is great for example but there are cross over stuff in them too and it just feels wrong. I think the game should be focused on itself not taking other IPs and adding it to their game. I am glad Don't Starve cross overs are minimal or at least togglable. I always turn off the Terrarium in my worlds because it is so jarring. Even if the bosses are nicely animated.

I think if any game franchise on the plant should have a bunch of crossovers, it’s the one with worm hole portals, teleportation devices, wild space time continuum rifts, oh and an old lady who refuses to grow old so she breaks the time line trying to escape her demons or whatever, there’s also an actual demon who can leave the constant whenever he pleases, and he did.. and he went to terraria and stole the terrarium.

I like how Klei actually tells a story with these crossovers, rather than just- hey we did a thing with another company and now it’s in the game.

Were they any crossovers before Teraria?  Having seen only that one I can see why someone might hype this one up more...

But I also note Klei said several times this was a "small" and "bite sized" crossover.  They let us know not to expect much, and tbh I'm more then happy with what we got - being 2 new chest skins and new road turf.  SUPER USEFUL stuff here I'd take any day for any reason and be happy tbh

team fortress 2...if you can count wilsons hair in tf2 that is useable by some classes and the hambat as default mellee weapon for most classes, and klei makin the pyro as a character more as a joke in private

That wasn't a crossover it was a preorder reward

A crossover preorder reward (TF2 is not DS), which you can also still buy to this day.

TF2 got some items from DS, but DS got nothing from TF. DS almost got Pyro as a character, but he's cut content. If you buy Hot Lava you get a firepit skin and if you buy ONI you get some critter skin (I forget who). Terraria is the first big one.

The Pyro was not part of the crossover. It was just a developer having fun during spare time or something like that. DST got the Puft skin for Glomglom from ONI, there is also the ONI science machine that is suppose to resemble the Duplicant Spawner. But yes Terraria was the first non-Klei crossover, and it was big.

I like the terraria crossover, new content that adds to the game like a normal mainline update. If you never knew what Terraria was, you could look at the Terraria content and not suspect it was from another game. They still could have gave the twins special abilities or something, it does not seem unusual for dst.

People sure never knew what Don't Starve was and I've seen several people think that Deerclops is a completely original boss for Terraria.

Terraria has ONE and ONLY ONE game, it was so obscure that I had never even heard of it until the DST crossover.

Meanwhile DS, Shipwrecked, Hamlet, & DST have all been made for the Dont Starve franchise.

Terraria may be more popular (for whatever reason I do not know.. I tried to replay that game last night & it still sucked) But one would have to literally be blind not to notice Dont Starve before Terraria.

I mean even right now on the Xbox Store, you’ll find DS+it’s DLCs, + DST before you’ll scroll down far enough to find terraria.

Terraria isn’t a BAD game.., it’s just not my “type” of game, and that’s fine- because I deeply enjoyed the content Terraria brought into DST, and I wish I could play terraria long enough to see the DST stuff that was added into it- but I just don’t enjoy terraria enough only to look for the DS cameos.

I'd rather the crossovers to be only skins, they are always a cool addition, but too much other games enemies, structures and bosses would disturb the game's atmosphere. It would become a multi crossover game where everything is just partnered with other games, c'mon I'm playing Don't Starve I want it to be Don't Starve.
