I think Wormwood's updated skills are disastrous shXt.

  Not only did it not address its lack of means to regenerate its health, but it also did not address its inability to make the most of its crops. If I grow a lot of potatoes and tomatoes, but eating them doesn't help me get my blood back, why don't I just eat monster meat? It doesn't need to worry about its san anyway. If my friends and I eat monster meat and stone fruits and kelp, we don't need to farm at all, so what's the use of fruit fly skills? Compared to the other characters' double damage and Shadow Gladiator and tentacles and bees, two salamanders look so weak. Why make the game experience so bad for these self-contributing characters?

Wormwood is one of my most played characters & I almost never farm with him. He has so much more to his kit than just planting things a little faster.

I almost always play as wormwood in single player. He’s just plain fun, if you took his downside away he wouldnt be fun anymore

I agree his skill tree could of been a lot more organized (why do two berry bushes take up two skill points??)and it's missing a bramble husk skill, but by no means does wormwood have trouble healing. 

He is one of the most comfortable characters to play in the game without ever having to touch farming.

1. Wormwood already has plenty of ways to heal himself.

2. They gave him the ability to set up massive reed farms and harvest honey with no hassle (Essentially making him the best character for crafting Honey Poultices) as well as an ability that heals him during the day/when next to a dwarf star. They also gave him the Fast Fertilizer skill, so I have no idea what else you wanted? Did you just want his downside removed entirely?

Wormwood's game experience is also fine, in fact he's one of the most fun characters to play as (IMO) whether your solo or in groups. Also, while he isn't on the level of Wolfgang or Wanda when it comes to combat, Wormwood is a pretty good combat character. He has Bramble Husks, easy access to Dark Swords/Bat bats and a free 20% speed bonus from bloom, and is now getting Saladmanders, Bramble Trap resets and unique Brightshade perks. He's frankly a REALLY good combat character, and anyway who says otherwise is just admitting that they don't actually play him properly.

photosynthesis and faster animations on compost wraps more than address this with the other numerous options he has to heal.

That's his theme and they even gave him another use for farming since dragon fruits are needed to summon saladmander followers.

His abilities are more general purpose and they're far from useless overall.

THIS is what I was talking about in my other post, people gravitating to a character, but wanting them changed so much they may as well no longer be the character.

I really liked the skill tree overall, it is a little rough around the edges, but the rest is great, one thing that amazed me was the lunar guardian branch, that made me move from Dark sword and football helmet to BS sword (I use the smasher before I have a good source of shades/briliance) and BS armor.

Also, I've start to face tank more things, as Bs armor makes them stuck(especially good vs nighmare creatures, as they get teleported away from the recoil damage and also get stuck there) while I can run and heal or finish them with the vines.

Once the update hits live I will make another topic with some suggestions (Like for the vines and some other things).

Yeah, one of the cool things with Wormwood is that you have two perks that makes you play the game on a complete different note, on the good side you can eat about anything on the run and get sanity from seeds and pinecones, on the other, you need to be careful about the damage that you take in battle, as healing from that will take some time, and some resouces are "harder" to get (a few minutes ago I went to gather some wood for boating stuff, and took a lazy forager with a stack of nightmarefuel to catch the logs, I went back with more than double from when I started).

As one of the few wormwoood mains on this forum, yes.

I also play exclusively single player because none of my friends like this game

I have a question, do you Wormwood in DS or DST? Because Wormwood in DS is so so much more fun the WW DST, he’s a character designed for the Hamlet DLC who shines the best in the hamlet DLC, having immunities to things like Hayfever, and not being attacked by the hostile plant mobs, bramble walls coil away letting him pass I mean.. if you want the utmost joy out of WW you really gotta play solo DS Hamlet where he originated from.

I was hoping Klei would’ve eventually added things like this into DST to significantly boost his gameplay.

If you enjoy WW so much, and have yet to play solo DS hamlet, I highly recommend!

I have the Shipwrecked DLC but really disliked it. Never got Hamlet cause I was too invested in DST when it came out. Haven't played DS since... oh steam thank you, January 23, 2016.

I can't believe that there was a time that I played Wormwood and he only bloomed for 25% of the year.

I entered the franchise because of the hamlet release, for me it was just perfect, especially the ambience, but when I saw that our Wormy boy was being added to DST I "migrated" (I basically bounced between DST and HAM because I did not know how to play normal ds), but what made me stay in DST was the lunar/ocean content, I really liked that too.

I really enjoy the ocean content despite it still missing stuff. Lunar is super neat.

It's fun without a doubt but he also felt far more unique that way in hamlet it wasn't a powerup we constantly maintained but something special it's hard to put into words really.

 

Edit: Personally I feel like Wormwood is perfect as he is right now originally I thought the plant crafting tab was wasting all of the potential for more unique character related abilities for him but after the changes he got it feels like he was perfectly fleshed out without going too far away from his original self.
