Kind of off topic buuuttt

I've been thinking on this a lot and you know a interesting way to handle it would be after finding pearl's island as your getting there a event would play out where she was being raided by pirates explaining why her living conditions are in such disrepair. You would have to kill all the pirates on the island then Pearl would remove the trinkets you collect from them during this. She would then say something of her's was stolen. Then when you get her to start trading bottles one of her options would be a map to moon quay. Also as a bonus if you defeat a raid and get the map it will contain the contain the location of her lost item and returning it to her would unlock the ability to trade bottles to remove cursed trinkets like the monkey queen.

Killing monkey raids at sea (summoned with hostile flare) should provide with a map to moon quay.

If they want to make it a little harder or easier; then make it a map you can buy from pearl. (Depending on what tier of friendship it's at and with what you can buy it).

Both generally early game choices.

Then everyone can have early monkey tails, not just wormwood.

sounds like a good idea, make friends with her at least half, and you will get a map of monkey island. This is what has been missing all this time

The pirate raids need a full rework too. It is really hard since all of them are sent at you at once and can easily stun lock, and you are punished heavily for being able to fend them off with trinkets, instead of taking the route of just making them go away with a cannon, since if you fail they will also destroy and steal stuff.

I mean i’m not gonna lie its a really good idea. Uses pre-existing content, lets us kind of bread crumb our way to the moon quay. I’m not sure about the pirates raiding pearl because i think the story for her is meant to be that she fell into a depression and now her island is a mess, but the rest is pretty cool.

The obscurity of the island is nice, keeps poor innocent clueless players away from the hell hole that that island is

literally just the addition of that terrible update makes sailing for new players completely redundant, you don't know where it is until you get raided, ransacked, or if  you kill them you lose an inventory slot, how this wasn't changed almost a year since the update is outstanding

Monkey raid is already a sign that island is nearby. just search the area

I really, genuinely do not understand why they don't actively sail towards their island to deposit their loot instead of picking a random direction.

It'd make sense and provide a unique way of following them to their home.

That reminds me of Tiger Shark from shipwrecked
