Enlightenment filter change is too unfriendly for epileptic players

Recommended Posts

The change to the Enlightenment filter and back is waay too quick and could pose a seizure risk for those with epilepsy. One way to change this would be to make it so its similar to the Ruins filter where the change is gradual instead of sudden.

Some toggle or just having the effect soften would vastly improve the quality for me.

It's especially nauseating when you're quickly going to-from normal/Lunacy in situations like the Moonstorm event, especially bad without any set of goggle for the unfortunate times you're caught without them.

There is a command for that:

PostProcessor:SetPostProcessingEnabled(false)

It disables all colour cubes tho. Personally i would prefer it to be an option that could be toggled in the settings because winter, summer and lunacy colour cubes can trigger my migraine.

There's a mod called Insanity Begone for Steam and it lets you turn off the enlightenment cube, so until klei addresses this and assuming you do play on pc, use that mod (not an ad, just thought it could help out)

having it be gradual fade in would be cool

Funny thing I noticed while visiting the rifts myself is that there IS a long gradual fade, but only for going from enlightened to regular. Going from regular to enlightened happens really quickly, it's jarring.

On a different but similar note... does the sound effect for enlightenment throw anyone else off?

As far as I can tell it's the same as the insanity sound, right? My brain just kind of stalls expecting something else, but maybe that's just me.

It's weird they haven't added a new sound when it's been there for so long
