Evelo
I am certain this has been brought up before but I just noticed the O's of certain characters are a specific style. and The one on the left looks like an Eye somewhat. While the one on the right is a Swirl. The eye could signify Alter (moon) while the Swirl is the classic portal spawned by Maxwell/Charlie to throw the survivors into the constant. Wilson, Wickerbottom, and Wormwood have the "Eye" style O Wolfgang, Winona, and Wortox have the Swirl style. No characters have both, Woodie, is the only character to have neither. Willow, oddly enough has a the "Eye" style O. Starting with Willow, based on the Wickerbottom short, we are aware that she worked with Maxwell in some capacity for some reason. Fast forward to present day it is possible she had a change of heart and wishes to assist Alter in some capacity in the great Moon vs Shadow we have going on with Them. The Eye style characters make sense considering in the lore and animation shorts we see the respective characters focus on Lunar powers rather than shadow powers. Wilson is the only one to truly be in the middle so the choice for Klei to have the Eye O might signify more importantly what is going on between Wilson and Wagstaff in the "Interference" short. As for Wolfgang, we know he gains his strength from a deal with Maxwell and the shadows, as seen in his Short. Winona, naturally is trying to find and save Charlie so it makes sense for her to delve into the shadows to save her sister. Wortox is the odd one. Since he is an imp and originates from the Constant... well that is all we know. So why was the swirl used? Could Wortox have played a role in the transportation of the survivors into the constant given he has teleportation powers? No idea! Woodie is the only character to have neither the Eye or the Swirl O. We know he was taught by Wickerbottom to better control his transformations though he is very neutral in game and in the few shorts we see him (and Lucy) in. After all the Moon is what causes the transformations, but the shadows might be the origin of the curse (considering Monster meat is how you can force transform as Wilba, Woodie, and Pigs). So what do you think? I feel it is too much of a coincidence for the characters (Wicker, Wormwood, Wolfgang, and Winona) to have the stylized Os that align with their respective "alliance" but, I could just be insane. I do think this has been brought up before but I am not certain. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146713-the-o-theory/ Share on other sites

Ridley
Yeah, I can see it. I have been wondering if the characters will have to choose between returning home or remaining in the Constant. Wagstaff certainly seems capable of creating a portal back home, but we know he wants to revolutionize the world with Constant magic. The shadows seem to hunt down anything that belongs to the Constant, abducting anyone who possess knowledge about them, but this keeps the Constant magic contained. Maybe characters who want to escape or share their enlightenment with the world will assist Wagstaff, whereas characters who found fulfillment in the Constant will consider Wagstaff too big a risk. They could even become "champions of the throne" as Pugna says. Well, Willow is pretty good at dealing with the shadows with the help of Bernie and dealing with the darkness using fire, so her being aligned with the forces opposing the shadows wouldn't sound too weird. Plus, I guess being nearly killed by a shadow in your childhood doesn't exactly leave the best impression. not sure what's up with her deal with Maxwell though. unrelated, but an interesting little thing I've noticed is that Wormwood's name has swirly Os in singleplayer and "eye" style O in together. maybe a prove that those are somewhat important to dst's story, maybe purely a stylistic choice, who knows? I always thought that Shadows try to spread Their influence as much as they can. Ancients were propably manipulated into opening the gateway for Them to break free and consume everything. Idk about you but I’d be pretty upset with someone if I worked with them only for them to send me to the constant. Idk if I’d be petty enough to summon the moon to get revenge but I could see willow doing that Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146713-the-o-theory/#findComment-1627205 Share on other sites
