Will DayWalker get his sculpture print?

Recommended Posts

Klei describe him as "NPC" in Wilson rework page, however, he works basicly like a crab king, both need to be summoned with the help of player just to be defeated later.

So, is he a summoned boss or NPC? And should he get his own scuplture in his drop?

Mayhaps the reason why he doesn't have a sketch is because you don't really "kill" him? Tbh I think he should still have one, or some other similar decoration featuring him because he looks so BA.

Well... You dont really kill crab king either, but he still drop his sculpt print. Same with fuelwaever, he doesnt exactly "die", Charlie take him.

Charlie pretty much compacts the fuel weaver into a black hole and makes him break apart into the fossils i think that can be called killing

Only one true way to find out! Now, would you fancy yourself as more of a 'cube' person or is there another shape you'd prefer? ;}

Wdym? Crab King drops meat and AFW drops his bones. Daywalker is pretty unique in that he doesn't drop a physical part of himself like meat or bone, and is seen to clearly be alive and talking well after defeated with zero ambiguity.

He indeed drops his meat, but we can see him still "alive" in his "death" animation where he tries to hold on to a piece of his castle before plummeting. You could say he dies here, but there is an unused death animation where he does clearly die and cartoonishly has his eyes x'ed out, and I would imagine they cut that animation out for a reason.

I believe the implication is he just flees/stays under water rebuilding his castle before resurfacing. Crab King is one of his kind and has a clear personal connection to Pearl. I don't think there's duplicates of him out there.

As for the explanation of the dropped meat. Welllll either 1. It could be an oversight, or 2. It could be pieces of him! You'll see that eyes pop out of holes in his castle time to time. What's going on with that? Does he have weird anatomy going on? Are there little crabs hiding underneath? We know he's a lunar-mutated creature, so I would certainly buy the weird anatomy. Hehe!

I mean, unless there's a clear message from the devs you can speculate about basically anything in-game for any purpose. I understand there are some things that make Crab King a bit different, but even his scenario is pretty clearly not at all like Daywalker's which makes a stronger possible reason for his exclusion compared to other bosses regarding the sketches.

Honestly it could be that he dies for real but then comes back like the characters in the constant. The world is very loosey goosey with otherwise inherent concepts like time and death, so maybe he does die, maybe he doesn't, maybe Pearl just has a lot of ex's, who knows?

Lives or dies I honestly don't think it really matters that much. Like you said a lot of things can be interrupted when it comes to the game, I highly doubt something like this would prevent Klei from making a statue for him if they really wanted to make one. Rules can be bent if it makes for more fun for the players!

Absolutely, I still do want there to be something with him. He has quickly become my favorite boss both design and mechanic wise, and seems so much more interesting than anything that has come before. It would be a weird exception considering basically every single boss has gotten one, even minor ones like Malbatross and Eye of Terror.
