Beard Bug. Or Feature?

I realized a bit ago but never posted, when meat is in Wilsons beard slots bunnies do not attack wilson. Went down to check on this agian and it has still persisted since 3 patches so IDK. What are yalls thoughts on it?

Confirmed eating from the beard does not pull agro either.

The beard slot is weird.

It counts as an inventory slot for the purposes of crafting stuff (like making a Hambat with meat in your beard) but then there is stuff like this where it's not treated like other inventory slots (as well as items not automatically going into your beard slot if it can fit).

I'm not sure what Klei's intention with the beard slot is in terms of these scenarios.

It's likely oversights in a system made so long ago that wasn't updated to fit with the new beard mechanics.

The inventory system was designed by the assumption of looking through a single container equipped by the player in the body slot. This dismisses containers that could be equipped in other slots(which don't really exist aside from ocean fishing rods and slingshots til now. The beard is technically an equippable in a hidden 'beard' slot the player can't see.), and it ignores that the player could have multiple containers on them at once.

It may be a good decision to update this systems to fit for the beard and future content that might have multiple containers in different slots of the player at the same time.

Bug or not, I like the idea of food stashed in his beard not drawing their aggro. You don’t ever see the Bunnymen attack each other after one chomps a Batalisk, and you just know it’s gotta have god only knows what stuck in its fur.. maybe they just see it as food “stuck” in Wilson’s fur..

In fact: let’s extend on this idea a bit more- maybe Wilson’s Beard which is made of the same stuff Rabbits/Bunnyoverlords are- can act similar to Wurts “Clever Disguise” and make Beardlings/Beardoverlords not run from/not attack Wilson.

Some of the best things in the history of gaming came from unintentional bugs, if this is one of them… please Klei don’t “fix” it.
