jp2k43
Do you think that even this year Klei can update some characters like Willow or Winona even after the rework? And what would your ideas be? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146075-after-the-rework/ Share on other sites
Cheggf
I think they should update characters like Willow and Winona instead of Wilson If they do keep updating characters after the reworks are all done I'd want it to be in the style that Wurt has been getting things. Little additional things that are a side part of a different update, instead of dedicated updates to just that character. Would love to see more of these character additions after rework Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146075-after-the-rework/#findComment-1621241 Share on other sites
Evelo
Refresh; Wilson is next and I do hope Klei touches up some of the older ones. Willow, Winona, Woodie, Walter. Memetan
I hope, actually, I'm giving ideas for Walter and Woodie rework 2.0., and there are my thoughts: Wolfgang, Wendy, WX-78, Wes, Maxwell, Wigfrid, Wortox, Wormwood, Wanda and Wurt are PERFECT. Willow: I don't think she needs a rework, I think the fire needs a rework. Wikerbottom: I have no thoughts, but I saw people saying that the rework just added books instead of giving a real change to her. Woodie: His wereforms are not good for most of the cases, and Wikerbottom and the Moonstorm just bully him, turning him in to wereform and starving him to death. Webber: I just stop play him and start playing Wurt instead, like most people. Winona and Warly: Both are crafting stations with not a "real benefit" for actually playing the characters. Walter: He is a failure as a range character, and his Woby a failure as a beefalo. Wonkey: Delete him. Sorry if I made someone sad, I wanted to highlight in my opinion the flaws of some characters. Stonetribe
I know that some people are probably sick of the refreshes by (myself somewhat included) and are eager to move on to other content, but I do think that characters like Willow and Winona are still in dire need of some touching up and I really hope klei considers doing a wave of mini refreshes to cover aspects of characters that were overlooked or what have you. EDIT: For instance, I really really wish that Webber's den decorations wouldn't be destroyed when a spider belonging it is attacked because that prevents you from being able to start spider wars and pretty much limits them to only recruiting purposes. Yuuko
I think a few little things could be done to these characters to help them out without doing a whole refresh, or even coding that much. 1) Willow - First off I'm pretty resistant to changes to Willow. I like her being close to Wilson in power level. We pick her for flavor, not raw power. I do think it would be cool if she could read Pyrotechnics Explained as a special character perk IF a Wicker crafts it. I think the book fits well with her personality and really could have just been her power but w/e if she can read it that would be cool and let her use fire a bit more b/c she'd at least have a way to clean it up. 2) Woodie - let him wear *something* that prevents his transformations. He really needs something he can do to resist the full moon transformation. 3) Walter - just buff the ammo so its worth using as standard dps. ButterStuffed
For Warly, Webber and Willow, I think a touch up on the systems they rely on would be better. Winona and Woodie need some touch up. Cooking is not in a bad spot, and I wouldn't be upset if it was kept the same, but if preparing food was reworked to have even half the level of interconnected complexity as farming, Warly's abilities would have more of an impact. Fire is just... Not very interesting. Currently it's not complex enough for Willow to have any meaningful interaction with it, so her fire related abilities are wasted. Insanity is in the same boat in that it's not complex enough for Bernie to have an impact beyond a handful of niche cases. Follower's are simple and spiders are even simpler. If the follower system was given a touch up to give the player more control then Webber would be more interesting. Winona definitely needs a little touch up. Something that relies on her presence rather than her buildings. Maybe an additional building or two and a significant boost in functionality if Winona is personally working them. Similar to how Bernie works best when near Willow. Catapults could be manually controlled by Winona for a significant boost in uses, Spotlights could be manually controlled as well, with maybe a notable debuff/buff given to whoever is in it's light. Hell, with a couple of tweaks to her current buildings, giving her the ability to pick up and redeploy her buildings at little to no cost would make a huge difference. Woodie I think just needs some QOL touch ups to make him more fun. Right now his abilities are harder to use than they are worth. He's very fun with some character combos, but by himself it's difficult to get his forms to feel impactful. Evelo
On 2/18/2023 at 6:50 PM, Memetan said: Wolfgang, Wendy, WX-78, Wes, Maxwell, Wigfrid, Wortox, Wormwood, Wanda and Wurt are PERFECT. I wouldn't say perfect. To each their own though. I personally feel the downsides of characters need to be more heavily leaned on. Wigfrid's downside is she can only eat meat. However with more recent updates goodies are allowed which make her downside less noticable. Her small stats are another downside which I think is good. Wormwood, Wanda, and Wurt (sans no interaction with pig king making trinkets worthless) are super close to perfect with minor adjustments that I personally would turn them into amazing to perfection. WX's Wetness downside is very impactful and the slightly lowered stats are welcome but again, his downsides aren't completely reflected or even noticed. The lack of legitimate downside is reflected with Wolfgang, Wendy, (Wigfrid as mentioned), Walter, Winona, Wickerbottom, Willow, and Woodie. It might just be my playstyle where downsides forcing the player to change the way they play is what I find fun. Wormwood not being able to heal via food is really impactful and changes the tried and true method of healing, both in and out of combat. Wanda's unique health and damage mechanics make her fun to play since, like wormwood, you can't rely on conventional or at least traditional methods of healing (Granted I think capping the number of healing watches would benefit this difficulty) Wurt is a vegetarian and detests pigs. While the downsides aren't too massive when looked at alongside Webber and Wortox it fits the non-traditional methods where Pig Farms can still be done albeit less convenient for pig skin gathering. Warly feels amazing and I adore his character, I would like it more if Klei leaned further into the picky eating more so you are required to swap dishes so you don't just eat 2 Meaty Stews every 3 days. Again, just my opinion. I prefer character weaknesses to be the focal point of character design which is why I adore Wormwood so much. Mr Giggio
Despite BERNIE!'s HP [could be double], Woodie's idols [moose reeeally needs polish] and Walter slingshot's attack speed I think its time to move on and start a new chapter cuz this reworky thing is getting tired [specially for the staff cuz oh boy we got some drama in mostly of the chars] Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146075-after-the-rework/#findComment-1621746 Share on other sites
Mike23Ua
The more I play these characters the more I realize that in the beginning Klei made tiny little dare I even say it “insignificant” upgrades to the characters- using Wilson as their starting point. That was fine.. but over time they made newer, more amazing, more in depth and just in general: more fun to play characters than the earlier reworks that came before. What we have left over is a few characters that feel sort of “Meh” and a few that have some really cool stuff going for them that make you want to play them over the lesser reworked ones. Should Klei dedicate an entire monthly update to re-reworking them? Absolutely not… I want some significant content updates at some point- and these reworks have been getting in the way of that. However- Reap What You Sow is a good example of a great update, Klei made an amazing new change to farming, and also sprinkled in some Wurt & Wormwood touch ups. But it’s no secret that newer reworks like Wolfgang & WX78 left Willow & Woodie punching below their weight. I finally got a friend to buy this game and as I’m teaching them each characters in and outs for their perks and abilities it leaves the ones with less “fun-factor” to have my friend scratching their head like wait.. that’s it? As a Wendy main, I want to Haunt Bernie Dolls to trigger their Enlarged Status, As a Secondary Willow Main I want Nightmare Fuel to refill my magical lighter. And as someone who despised Wigfrids rework, delete it and try again (jokes.. mostly) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146075-after-the-rework/#findComment-1621747 Share on other sites
WONTow
Willow's fine. Fire is an outdated mechanic that needs a refresh on its own. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/146075-after-the-rework/#findComment-1621781 Share on other sites
