Where do you want the game to go next?

Ngl I’m not reading this entire debate over combat but here’s my two cents

Curremt dst combat STINKS it’s not very engaging and doesn’t allow much player expression and most bosses are boring because of this.

i think adding a new movement tool like a dodge roll would be great, not just because it makes the gameplay more engaging but also because it gives the devs more freedom when designing bosses; they can make them crazier, cooler, and more fun without having to worry about making them too difficult since the player has a new tool in their arsenal. Yes, if you were to add a dodge roll to dst and change nothing else it’d probably suck, but if bosses were made with a new movement option in mind god combat would be so much more fun.

However, I think adding a new movement option would be too drastic of a change and idk if it’d work, considering the amount of backlash klei got from the crafting ui update. Perhaps the best route to take here would be adding a new set of items unlocked later in a world that open up a new mobility option, sorta like wings in terraria (this is not to say dst combat should be more like terraria combat in ways other than this, terraria combat sucks too ngl).

Klei is really good at getting a balance between what the community wants and what they have planned for the game. Right now they've balanced a lot of stuff and revisited a lot of older content with regards to the community.

While I can still complain about the state of Willow, Wilson, Toadstool and Crab King, I am definitely happy with Klei doing their own thing for a bit, as their imagination and visions are what everything good in this game is built from. So long as Wilson gets their spotlight time I feel generally comfortable with what Klei want to do.

meanwhile in ds wolfgang isn't the fastest character for any speedrun, his hunger drain is more of a hinderance than anything in adventure mode and maxwell/wheeler are a lot faster for short runs, they can kill a boss before wolfgang can even go mighty

I want some sort of change where I won't feel like I'm being punished for not spending every spring hunting Moose/Goose. I don't want to craft 20 weather pains just so I could reliably kill raid bosses solo.

This is the main reason I put down bosses like Crab King, Ancient Fuelweaver and Toadstool as the last bosses and fight them only once per world (and worlds usually last 1 IRL year). I just despise crafting and then using them, because I get paranoid with every use thinking that every misuse will cost me additional time spent on feather hunting OR accidentaly breaking the thing!

I would LOVE to see some other item for crowd control/controlled destruction with more uses or cheaper recipe.

Maybe the weather pain could be refueled, or at least let me stack these feathers to 40?

If you actually read what you were quoting you instead of just picking a quote to tell me "hah u r wrong get rekt!" you would see I was talking about Don't Starve speedrun not Don't Starve Together. Also, Wolfgang is faster than Wheeler because he can just facetank and kill things 2x faster, food has never been an issue in DS franchise as a whole it's very easy to amass large amount of food in short period of time for speedrun as Wolfgang.

They may have gotten backlash from the crafting ui update, but it was one of the best updates for sure which took the game in the right direction. Same with the overhaul of farming, ocean fishing, ocean overhaul, ect. all of their overhaul updates so far have only made the game better and I have complete faith that if they made combat better and less boring it would be a great update too :).

I literally just said that nobody uses wolfgang in DS speedruns

all the fastest runs have either been done as wheeler, maxwell, wicker or wx

you can either keep dying on your hill defending something that is impossible to defend or you can just stand corrected it's not that hard

The threads not about speed running- it’s about what you want to see next for the game (Aka sequel worthy changes)

things that “shake up” the same ol tiresome gameplay, character reworks, the farming rework and the ancient guardian boss fight rework would be things I’d consider sequel sized shake-ups.

And as much as I HATE IT.. the new Craft UI interface. -_- 

Can we please keep the thread on topic? I would love to see mob behaviors overhauled, more intelligent, new things they’ll do etc.

Aka Minecraft Villagers, and then the amazing Villagers update that made them wear little suits fitting of the biome they’re in and gave them daily routines of farming their gardens or doing their jobs etc.

DST gets compared to Minecraft because DST gets frequent updates similar to MC..

i just come on this forum to see dst news and sometimes suggest ideas i think would make dst more fun or better like i use to keep pushing for 64bit long time before it was a thing for windows dst

i said nothing wrong. the videos i saw long time ago was of wolfgang speedruns and basically all of the speedruns was wolfgang. i dont want to talk about this anymore please dont quote me anymore on this pointless stuff ty.

Someone mentioned varied seasons awhile back (can't remember who suggested it) and loved the idea. Each season would have say 3 different levels all with different difficulty and new mobs etc. You would never know which one you'd get. I love the idea of fall taking on a more shadow like form where flora and mobs morph into a nightmare form etc in the spirit of Halloween/samhain.

I'd also like to see a lot of the gorge cooking and ingredients be added to the game (oven, grill, cookware, flour, syrup/tree's) I kinda want to be able to burn something! It would add so much to the simplistic cooking mechanics while still allowing some to stick to the meatballs and meaty stew if they want. 

I also want more furniture type things added, like a hat rack and weapon rack. A cupboard to put Abby's potions in etc.

And finally new biomes and mobs for the mainland. Maybe like the season's each biome could have different variations between them with different difficulties.
