Imo all we need is just make the pick-axe a pick-hammer, would solve all the low durability hammer problems plus it would make it the ultimate ruins tool. Who uses that thing for chopping trees anyway?

While we have Bearger

I've never game much thought when weak monster health is so round like 100, 150 or 600 why is the weapon's damage 27.2 axe, Lucy 13.6, tentacle spike 51.

It just makes me curious. I wish I could ask klei what is the story behind those values. Maybe it's some hidden lore code?

The base damage is 34 and most damage values are a multiplier on that: 34*0.80=27.2

Now why the base damage is 34, that was done way before I joined, my guess would be that it's just enough to kill a spider in 3 hits.

Now we must uncover the story behind 34.

I think this is quite logical.
100-33-33-33=1 xp
100-34-34-34=0 xp
it turns out this is the minimum damage to kill a spider in 3 hits or another mob with 100-200hp

It's just a rule they have to follow. You could even call it, a rule 34

Don't Starve R34 edition ;-)
