YouKnowWho
I've brought this up in the past, but I thought I'd give it another go now that there's much more ocean content out there. One of my biggest irks with the ocean introduced with Turn of Tides is the fact that it seems to be unnaturally level with the land. The way the turf overhangs a bit from the cliffy underside looks extremely unnatural, especially with islands primarily made of sand like the Moon Quay or Pearl's Island. I think the coast would look a whole lot better if Klei were to introduce the softer shorelines from Shipwrecked and Hamlet. It doesn't really make sense anyway. If the ocean levels were really to rise catastrophically like that, it'd definitely result in some rising shorelines rather than the mathematically perfect 1:1 ratio of land to sea that we have now That being said, please let me know which you prefer below. earthmate
I can definitely understand them preserving the aesthetic of the original look with the ocean, but I do prefer Shipwrecked's shoreline. It just looks a bit nicer and meshes well with the land. sudoku
I think they could have some areas where they keep the original look and you cannot board a ship from them (cliffs) and then other areas with the shipwrecked shoreline and maybe a tile or 2 ofbeach turf surrounding these areas where u can freely board your ship (beaches). Then id like to see the swamp also get reworked with water tiles like the mangrove biome from shipwrecked as well as land based tiles with the shipwrecked shorline. And this isnt even mentioning archipeligo worldgen. The map needs a qol/visual refresh tbh. Frosty_Mentos
I want this at least to be with the non-player made turfs, where it looks like this. Ships should still be usable on cliffs as giving players less places to build the boat might discourage or make some people hate sailing even more. But I agree with the rest. Shorelines would be AMAZING and also offer potential for more content (shallow waters that you can walk in, crocodogs that would sunbathe on the shoreline, etc.). Bull kelp stalks could also be made (more) renewable by having them washing up on the shore and maybe the shoreline could provide another source of crustashines and maybe even palmcone trees... Hornete
In a perfect world I'd like both, However I do not know how they could make it visually work if a DST shoreline and SW shoreline would be next to each other, Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/141676-shipwrecked-shorelines/#findComment-1583944 Share on other sites
ADM
I never really appreciated how close we could stand from the edge on top of that, but it's really just a detail. We're actually walking on the start of the water tiles, as you can tell by the moist sound it make from walking there (or the lack of sound entirely in cave). To me it always felt like your entire body is held by a fin layer of tall-grass or whatnot that keep you from falling into the unknown. Those aren't native to the main Constant realm though, other than that shorelines would be great, and would add some much wanted 'survival content' by a lot of people, Imagine heavy flooding in the 2nd spring Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/141676-shipwrecked-shorelines/#findComment-1583949 Share on other sites
lowercase skye
The DST shorelines look super nice and really contribute to the feeling that this is an ocean of water rather than a new turf with higher priority! I like them. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/141676-shipwrecked-shorelines/#findComment-1583957 Share on other sites
