Mike23Ua Posted April 29, 2022 Share Posted April 29, 2022 Pretty sure Ops forum name should hint that their a troll attempt, and Mr JoeW says to ignore troll attempts and don’t reply to those threads- However I’m going to ignore Mr JoeWs advice just this once.. because the thread is already titled Free to Play. I want to express my Extreme Hatred for almost all things Free to Play.. I hate it as business model because it opens the door to scummy business practices- such as.. Annoying Ads that interfere in your enjoyment of the game, or resources that replenish over time preventing you from playing the game after a certain period. I’ve paid money for a few games that originally WERE NOT Free To Play: Such several mobile games but the most noteable ones would be Sega games (Sonic, Sonic 2, Golden Axe etc..) and Plants Vs Zombies. When they went free to play (after I had originally paid for them) advertisements were thrown in and new currency’s were added as well as energy that replenishes over time. Then once the game has energy that replenishes over time or build times that take hours/days/weeks to complete it opens the door up for Pay To Win mechanics- pay real money for more energy or for construction speed ups. These things RUIN A GAME I PAID FOR…. And in my mind, it should be illegal for a company to do that to its players.. but that’s just the way the world works- and unless I start some world revolution where people rise up and say enough is enough I’ve had it with this BS where my one voice becomes the voice of millions repeating the same thing- (see video game stock market crash from years before..) then its just going to keep happening. This is why I absolutely despise the Free to Play model.. please Klei, Don’t do that to my favorite game franchise. </3 Usually what happens when a paid game goes free to play and gets the above mentioned disaster of features- the players abandon that game and look for a new game from a small indie company similar to the game they once loved that was ruined by greed & $$$$ signs in their eyes, we seek refugee within the small indie studio that hasn’t hit the big leagues yet.. and actually care about their costumers. If that sounds familiar to any of you.. maybe you should take this message to heart. #Wise words of a Gemini.
