minespatch
Is it a biology thing for younger merms to lose their ruffles as they get older? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/138050-wurts-neck-ruffles/ Share on other sites

Might be based on frog losing their tail after growing up. minespatch
Maybe the ruffle acts as like a second spine. It balances the merm child until it gains a hunchback anatomy? I think the ruffles turn into the weird dorsal fins thing on Merm back. They are present so that Wurt looks more like a clown, as all merms are naturally This post brought to you by Anti Merm gang Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/138050-wurts-neck-ruffles/#findComment-1545933 Share on other sites
Mantispidae
It is probably a juvenile trait, similar to tadpoles losing their tails as they grow. We don't get too good a look at the merm king' neck but they also lack the ruff, as do the fishermerms (shipwrecked) so no adult merms have yet to show the ruff. Additionally, adult merms have a dorsal fin, which wurt lacks. ALCRD
What's curious is that when you equip any custom "head" on her. Her default body stays the same (except the color change) but her neck ruffles dissapear. In similar fashion like equipping just custom head on any of the human survivors strips them to their socks and undies. As if its also just a piece of clothing. And seeing how adult merms don't have these "ruffles" and seeing how Wurt is underaged i'm just gonna assume she wears a fancy baby bib lol.
