I don’t use either of these tools because I’m always way too stressed out when using them and constantly worrying about when they will break. Replayability isn’t an issue, since multiplayer servers will have to fight the guys multiple times anyways so everyone who wants the gear can get their own, and it’s nice to have a backup shield or helmet just in case your current one runs out or for whatever reason you can’t feed it rn. Besides, is forcing players to refight a boss if they want to continuously use the drops really a good thing?

you save resources by using them (i cleanned many ruins by just wasting worm's mm) and most of boss lot have durability like BQ hat, eyebrella or bone helmet

Agree for the shield, not for the eye. Mainly because the twins are an absolute pain to fight (solo) and you have to spread the fight over several nights. 

Also, while thematically-fitting, the eyemask just looks too ugly for me to wear constantly, unlike my very stylish viking football helmet

Or a quick filling function like bonearmor, not feed. Okay, I know it's hard to happen, because this shield and helmet is ALIVE, when you feed something alive in DST, the action is always be slow and deliberated designed. 

And accrodingto Klei's previous design habits, they would not give you too much OP tools, every recycling armor in DST with its own unique defects.

Absolutely agree with this approach. Tradeoff fits with the nature of the items.

Intresting design, just like babybear backpack in Legion MOD. Personally I love this one but predictably it could make many people unhappy beacaue there are so many mild and easy-going players here, greed for relaxing. They do not want anything with any defect.

I think the problem with my idea is that it is too grim. But something like this isn't impossible since we have stuff like marble suits and knight armor and this downside isn't too punishing since it doesn't immediately start eating the player and you can swap it off.

Eh maybe I should change another explaination,  some players can bear something useless, but can not bear anything like double-edged sword. The new concept of helmet you come up with is just like this.

I'm not sure you'll understand if I explain it this way.

If your design had been adopted from the start, I think everyone would have applauded it, because it is well-designed.
But I think a lot of people would find it unacceptable to make the current shield look like this, because it's actually a nerf:wilson_laugh:
