Why does everyone like Wagstaff so much? Is it because he gets a crafting tab in DSA? Is it because he made WX and you guys want to see him talk to WX? Is it because he looks funny? Is it because he gets a weird distortion effect on his voice as he loses health? I really don't get why there's so many people obsessed with him over everyone else. His unique things, teleporting and seeing tentacles, have already been given to Wanda and Wurt.

I share your curiosity, but somehow your quote looks hostile (maybe it's just my perception though). But I wouldn't write a comment if not for pointing out some things:

- when characters are ported, there is high possibility they would be tweaked. Warly is one of the most recent examples with significant tweaks, Wormwood received tweaks even before RWYS upon porting, and even during the time main cast was being added Wigfrid, Maxwell, Woodie and Willow received significant changes too. For the latter 2 those tweaks did more harm than good as I can tell from people maining them and my very limited experience with them, but point still stands.

- Wagstaff is unable to set up proper reliable teleportation network unlike Wanda, neither in the forest, nor in the caves; this includes RoG map which is the basis of DST map; for Hamlet his teleports are ok, but only because of specific shape of the world. For SW his teleports are horrible, and the more ocean biomes/islands one were to add to DST map, the more horrible is would be for unreworked DST version of Wagstaff, just because character would need new boat to leave island each time (unless it's strictly 2-way teleport). If other general means of teleportation were more viable (buffed and tweaked), then it could work, but until then - curse of "water shoes" (even if they are more fun to use than SW boats, they are still mandatory for gaining access to ocean content) would keep chasing Wagstaff with development of ocean content. So this aspect would need a buff/rework if idea of Wagstaff included player teleporting constantly, moreover, it shouldn't be copy-paste of Wanda's advantage.

- Device for chopping trees isn't actually that good, especially without stacking pinecones glitch. It wouldn't invalidate Maxwell, it would be better than nothing option, but still nothing outstanding and fun, if you ask me. Nor objectively strong either, since distance of chopping is very limited, although treeguards not screwing process is a boon, I guess.

- Goggles. This feels like downside more than upside, since in order to have normal vision one has to sacrifice head slot (not all hats have corresponding goggle equivalent, and I don't think they should either), which means no moggles, no miner hat, no tam, no eyebrella, no beefalo hat, not even enlightened crown or bone helm, or else player would loose irl sanity really quick. Goggles themselves allow to use football helmet and fire staff with extra steps, there is sidegrade (which feels like downgrade) to moggles and wonderful requirement of consuming pig skin if one wishes to merely see normally. Or chance to randomly burn stuff if one uses fire goggles to see almost normally, or obscured vision of armor providing goggles. I genuely see no advantage of using goggles over existing non-character specific items outside of Hamlet where they all had fog protection and normal goggles allowed Wagstaff to get some extra relics/check some doors in pig ruins. Location of tentacle is very easy to determine by looking at sanity drain-representing arrow (works even better than Wurt's perk for winter).

So that leaves us with big maximum hunger, amazing aesthetic design and personality. Which makes me wonder: why would many people want Wagstaff without any mechanical changes or even with nerfs added to DST? Just for personality and aesthetics? For maximum hunger? For downsides and mentioned minor upsides? Because I, personally, would like Wagstaff to receive serious tweaks in order to become interesting to me, but obviously different people have different preferences. I'm just really curious.

Also what was the cultural problem with Warbucks? He seemed fine in terms of both quotes and visual design, at least those quotes I know about. Also how is Maxwell not problematic culturally if Warbucks was? Max lured children into the constant and did some other shenanigans with grammophones and radio. There is a lot of characters with questionable life choices as well. So "I don't get it" №2.

because you cant torture pig childrens but you can torture adult ones

i guess his old quote for fridge (was something like "every civilized person must have one") and other items I don't remember were problematic for some people worried about jokes and people having fun with them. If his design doesnt seem problematic for you, you might be interested in reading about what UK did in China and what did people who is represented by warbucks stereotype

i dont think warbucks neither maxwell are problematic, i dont have such broken moral compass so i dont know what answere do you expect from me. Art is art and doesnt hurt anybody and even less when are jokes and not propaganda or spreading hate. Warbucks was clearly removed because of that not because his bland play style as i said they could put wheeler perks on him instead of releasing her which art style doesnt really fit the game (first time i played her i though i suscribed to some mod by accident)

I was just curious, I tend to not expect anything from anyone. Thank you for the answer! And I agree that art is art as long as it's not propaganda and the like. Also torture is torture, it's equally bad in my eyes no matter the properties of victim.

exactly. You can make fire farms with pigs dressed like bankers or fancy ladies but better remove zeros and ones that represent piggy kids dressed like kids

in my eyes that moral distinctions are more sick than the fun someone might have while burning them all

Actually the DM I had with a dev the other day asking about the appropriateness of a Meme before I posted it may answer why Piglets aren’t in the game..

The response I got was that it could be argued that there is animal cruelty depicted in my Meme, but since Webber comes to stop her before anything can happen they felt it was Okay to post.

The Meme in Question was about Kitcoons playing hide & seek and one Kitcoon remaining hidden so later that night when firewood was needed for the campfire Willow goes out to chop wood & she also happens to be chopping down the tree the Kitcoon is hiding inside (if you have to explain the joke it’s probably overall a bad joke but ANYWAY…)

If “Animal Cruelty” is now being Considered- Expect to see lines like Wigfrids “Cute Meat” as well as her ability to slaughter them for meat removed.

If this does indeed end up becoming the case, then I’ll need to move on to a new game franchise, I liked DS/DST for being a Grim Tim Burton style twisted version of Minecraft But this worries me deeply..

As far as on topic goes I would love to see the 6 remaining DSA characters added into DST and maybe 1/2 completely new ones (Charlie and Playable Rock Lobster)
