Wolfgang Roleback Please !

i know this topic has been beat to the grownd but please, just gives us old Wolfgang back, or at least change the new one ! i hate this rework, i dont mind you nerfing wolfgang if hes too op (even tho this game is pve and nerfing stuff on a pve game is stupid in my opinion but whatever) but this new rework is just a boring piece of trash. Why do i have to stop what im doing to work out ???? why do i get so much punish for not wanting to stop to work out !!??? can you just remove the stupid workout meter and replace it with food again please ? remove the speed boost for all i care but dont force me into a boring mini game/ afk lift just so i can play the game. The thing that pieces me off the most is if i dont work out i take more damage and deal less damage and on top of that i still starve 1.5% faster and get scared 25% faster has well ! its a pain in the ass constantly fighting shadow creatures with a damage reduction/increased just because i dont wanna waste time lifting or playing mini games... Please rework him again of if you dont wanna have the trouble just change him back with a nerf (or no nerf at all that would be perfect)

well, you currently are only looking at the downsides, look at the upsides, plus doing a bit of a workout before a boss fight doesn't hurt, if you don't want to do nothing while waiting for him to pump up his dumbbells, why not do a few sit ups or also do some dumbbells. He is a very strong character and a fun one too, if you don't enjoy playing him, just play wigfrid.

To start of, thank you for the mod ! I think im gonna use it, but i feel dirty somehow using mods that change the core game, i rather adpat or pick other character, i just hate the new rework and wanted klei to improve on it, but thank you a lot anyway !

Not true, with the rework they made his Hunger drain normally. 

(unless youre counting the Gym and even then a good Crockpot and youre golden, similar to Woodie after a transformation)

If were honest, Sanity is hardly an issue half the time, only problem comes from facing multiple Terror Beaks, and thats about it, besides Wolfgang hardly had proper disadvantages for how strong he was before. 

Btw havent confirmed it myself but apparently Critters (the pets) count toward the modifier, so if you get one, sanity will drain slower.

Which was next to no problem now days with how abundant food is, and it was annoying when playing with multiple players, even worse multiple Wolfgangs.

Mate, maintaining the Normal Form is easy as hell with any of the Dumbbells, and the Gym once upgraded (which can be quite early thanks to Eye of Terror) is just a couple of seconds to go from 0 to 100 Mightiness. 

 

Like someone already mentioned, youre just looking at the downsides and not the upsides.

ok but on the first few day you should be on the run, not settling a base, and if you are on the run you cant just keep on building the gym lift hammer it and keep going, you waste tons of ressources + you dont have decent statues to even be efficient with it. the rework is good when you are already set up and you work out to fight bosses but the WHOLE point in playing the old wolfgang was to kill the bosses without having to invest has much recources ! Now you have to invest non-fighting materials just to be strong and the most important recource of them all, TIME !

Sanity isent a problem at all, its jus time consuming being insane all the time and having to fight with a damage reduction has whimpy

I get it was annoying when playing with other wolfgangs, but has a solo player myself the mechanic was amazing, it rewoarded you for your skill in the game and Wolfgang its useless the more people your playing with so you shouldnt even pick wolfgang in multiplayer

Ok ! but i should have to be forced out of my way just to lift so i can keep my damage the same ! why do i turn into wes if i just play the game like everyone else !? it sucks ! and gets extra annoying once shadow creatures start spawning left and right and im stuck with a whimpy wolfgang

golden dumnbell exists and is good enough for the entire early game, if isnt fast enough for you, just rush magic tier 1 which is as simple as getting few things by the time you wanna place a alchemy engine (neccesary structure even if you dont want to build a base early on..)

so dramatic and unrespectful topic, this kind of feedback isnt constructive

i dont feel like i was disrespecfull but if i ofended you sorry,

the problem with the golden dumb bell is that its only whort to mantain the regular form, going mighty is still a drag, so i have to invest extra crafting materials and a couple of seconds (minutes if you add up multiple days) just to mantain my regular form. 

The gem bell would be GREAT if it didnt required 2 purple gems since i have to rely on rng to get 2 blues and 2 reds, getting a bishop set piece or rushing the ruins has weak wolfgang. It being a magic tab recipe is understandable but a pain in the ass never the less since i only drop my presthatitator when i have the igridients to build the shadow manipulator and it can take a couple of days to gather those

its not even a downside, you get to farm more fuel for free ! its just sucks in conjuction with all the other changes

having to stop to lift is what pieces me off ! why cant he just walk and lift !?

well, you are saving half of the time and resources with his x2 damage...

is a downside when you have a bigger constant sanity drain during boss fights at dusk and night. Isnt warly or wanda downside, but still a downside

critters and befriended mobs remove the downside

because I'm noticing that every single wolf hater here like never played it and probably never will, they just came here to watch and spit anger.

I was maining wolfgang in the past, then (still before the rework) I started maining wanda because I found her more interesting, but I played new wolf for like 100 game days and I like him despite not using any dumbbells at all (except that one time when I tried to beat dfly as him), and I enjoyed him.

If you can't kill shadow creatures or any regular mob at all using kiting or at least an armor, then that's a skill issue.

lmao. for companies games are business first, then entertainment, and I'm sure they're smart enough to have their own legal department in case of any problem.

Since Wolf's rework, I've almost exclusively played this new iteration across various pubs and personal servers. I've used him in past, yet never in a main capacity since I didn't liked his "vacuum" eating requirements to stay mighty most times and benefit from his pros. I have no hard feelings related to his biggest nerf - the speed - yet I find 2 aspects of current iteration quite bothersome: 1) the fact you need to idle through an "working out" animation, either from Dumb-bells or via Gym (also, personally, don't fancy at all mandatory mini-games, more-so of the "clicking rhythm" kind) and 2) all Dumb-bells durability, basically morphing now Wolf into a Gold, Purple Gems and Rocks "eater". On top of that, during idle-animation exercise routine (which gets old pretty fast and pretty ugly, the "old milk" type anecdote), Wolf's hunger goes up, so to a certain degree you get his old "food vacuum" con, but with an extra step. My proposed rectification related to said 2 issues above that I reckon are generally obnoxious: make Wolf able to lift while moving and apply the double-half principle for Dumb-bells durability, aka double their current durableness. Rest can be by-passed, as mentioned in comments above, via adopting a pet (sanity) and trying to never go into Wimpy territory. Still, yes, I admit KLei changed drastically Wolf's spot from a Combat generalist and Rusher to a consistent Damage Dealer, yet iffy and with extra-steps/more gimmicky. Ah, and another fairly important facet: make Wolf maintain Might during long Boss fights. With these 3 QoL changes I suppose Wolf will be more on-par with a satisfactory performance in the hands of his past-and-dedicated players "main-ing" him as well as bulk player-base alike (well... to a certain extend anyway).

and i actualy hoped that this wolfgang talk has finaly set down, just that i get disapointed again, new wolfgang is not so bad how they make it out to be, sure it may take a bit longer then eating meatballs, but see, his damage is not depending on how much hunger he has, now he always kills even faster, no matter in what point mighty is, as long it is above a number, you are big strong

Wolfgang as a character has 3 different forms, two of which in his old pre-rework form unless you were just awful at the game: you NEVER saw.

Klei obviously did not want people running around 24/7 Mighty, they actually want you to play in his other two forms: Otherwise- Just remove Winpy form from the game entirely already Klei… He doesn’t appear “Wimpy” in his animated short so unless you plan to make it into some twisted story where upon accepting the powers of supernatural strength the shadows are feasting upon his very soul and he gets skinny frail & weaker.. then Wimpy shouldn’t even exist.

However: They Kept Wimpy form in the game, So I am to assume that they actually want people to play him in Wimpy form.

When I play as New Wolfgang I think of him sort of like Popeye the Sailor Man: he’s weak and gets smacked around until he buffs up by eating his spin- uhh I mean lifting his weights!

Dumbells aren’t just a stand around being idle simulator either, they can be thrown at birds and rabbits or even butterflies to gather feathers, morsel, beard hair, Butterfly wings (the biggest noob friendly form of free health and hunger in the game) they’re also Sink Proof and can be used exploring the Ocean.

Those Morsel you collect from the things you throw your Dumbell at can be put in a crockpot with 3 ice to create Bunny Stew- A new food recipe that heals the player by 20 health points.

Wolfgang actually became EASIER to play.. when you combine throwing Dumbells for Morsel with Bunny Stew, longer Mightiness, persistent 2x double damage, faster rowing, chopping, mining etc..

You only hate it because your not USED to it.. 

And people who relied upon his speed buff or his food makes me 24/7 Mighty are going to have a hard time adjusting..

But this is the Wolfgang Klei wants to portray: one where you actually end up using the 3 forms they spent time animating: 

NOW it’s up to YOU to decide when to be Mighty or not.

Wolfgang with a single Eye Mask is a god.. and now instead of feeding food to Wolfgang, you can just feed your eye mask and never need to waste pig skins on helmets again.

A Wolfgang that doesn’t need to eat through pigskin on football helmets you say? Yes.. so then what do I use my pigskins for?

Well uhh- You can create more Hambats, or give them to Pig King for Gold to get Gold Dumbells.

Then once you get frequent red & blue hounds you can snag their gems up and combine them into a purple to create the Gem Dumbell.

Alternatively: you can go in caves and those same gems will sometimes just literally land on your head for free.

New Wolfgang isn’t “hard” to play, you just have to Adapt: Or find a new character you like better anyway.

Depends on the situation: do you use your rocks in Dumbells, do you build a campfire, do you create a Thermal Stone, do I want to  use this gem on another Gembell or do I want to use it to create a weapon?

I play this game beyond default settings with random weather seasons, I have to be prepared at all times with supplies: And Reworked Wolfgang makes you think:

Do I make more dumbells to be mighty or hold onto this resource for some other purpose.

(first time I tried the rework I died to darkness because I was having so much fun creating dumbells I wasn’t paying attention to how many twigs or grass I had and ended up not having enough to make a torch.)

These are all things you just wouldn’t have ever done with pre-rework Wolfgang, you never really had to do ANYTHING as old Wolfgang, in fact: You could set up a pierogi farm near any boss and become a near unkillable god.

NOW Wolfgang has to worry about how many twigs, rocks, grass, ropes, gold, cutstone, gems he has.

Overall: I think what people are having the most trouble adjusting to with this rework is needing to collect something other then Food to obtain his perks lol.

I much rather snorting some tumbleweeds until I get a Magic Tab recipe, kiling myself and haunting it until it becomes a Shadow Manipulator Blueprint.
