Hide behind a tree to lose aggro on mobs or bosses?

Recommended Posts

wouldn't it be cool if mobs can have sort of detection that if there's a tree between the players and the mobs ?mobs can lose aggro if players are all hiding?

maybe we need a new action "hide" and a new animation, we do have this in a mod, but in this mod, after using "Hide" player become invisible, that does not look real, maybe this can be officially accepted as a playstyle and introduce some better "hide" action or hide animation?

currently dectections are range based, so i thought maybe we can have something like this

if mobs can't find any player, they will play a "look around confusingly" animation.

and they will "seek" the player if they are aggressive mobs.

hide and seek, what do u guys think?

i know the implementation would be tough though.

Why would they forget where you are because you ducked behind a tree that they watched you hide behind? There's already hiding in the game and it doesn't work like that. If you hide in a bush hat before anything sees you, it won't see you. If you hide in a bush hat after something sees you, it obviously attacks your disguise and kicks you out of it. Snurtle armor lets you hide from things that are aggro'd onto you because after trying several attacks on your impenetrable shell they figure they can't get you and give up.

I remember the early days when GTA V first came out where you could change glasses, hats etc to drop police wanted levels and then simply crouch down in a bush nearby and the police will walk right past you for your warrants to drop..

Implementing something like that into DST would be incredibly complicated..

Plus we already have the “Bush Hat” for hiding.. enemies that SEE you hide will still attack you but if you hide like say before a hound wave: They spawn.. can’t find you then go somewhere else.

Word of caution though: they do not Despawn so you will still need to deal with them sooner or later.

The original State of Decay & Sniper Elite 4 also have the ability to hide in bushes to lose enemy aggression but it’s just not a feature that would fit DST that well.

Ah yeah the thing nobody makes lol.

I remember i was obsessed with it when i started playing.

Only thing i used it for was to hide around Beefalos during hound waves.

I think that the system would be a bit unneeded: why not just run?

It would either add yet another option for interacting with these structures, which would be difficult for console players (if it was done via a button prompt to hide), or it would interfere with liting and fighting in forests, and make it more unpredictable (if it was line-of-sight).

I just don't see the need for it.

Bush hat is pretty good if you need to hide. You can hide from hound waves, hide from shadows during nightmare phase (if you hide with a bq crown on near a fissure you can gain a lot of sanity while safely AFK (except you can't because you have to use snurtle armor to do that since the bush hat is a hat)), hide from people asking where the base is, hide from shadow splumonkeys, hide from massed spiders, hide from bosses as you cheese them to death via other enemies such as tentacles, etc.

The only issue with the bush hat is that it is inferior in every way to snurtle armor. Snurtle armor is much more fashionable, provides armor that lasts a good while, is much more stylish, allows damage immunity while hiding, is much better looking, allows you to hide from enemies that already engaged you, is much more attractive, allows you to use it as a spot-dodge at the cost of armor durability, is much more regal, lets you wear hats such as the bee queen crown with it, and is much more elegant.
