Video game logic aside, the fact that the current gunpowder is simply a pile bothered me immensely when I started playing DST. The rapid combustion of a pile of gunpowder would fizzle at most if it was not contained in a shell. It's like the stupid Hollywood trope where a single pistol bullet makes cars explode (lol). A lot of it is in the inventory images, so if you ever wanna check out stuff you've not seen before, I recommend looking in there. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
maradyne Posted November 21, 2021 Share Posted November 21, 2021 I'm guessing these are just the uncompressed versions of the original graphics; they would've most likely been compressed just before distribution. HD textures weren't a thing before because of limitations of the programming due to concerns about peoples hardware and whether the time spent upgrading the engine would be worth it. With the 64 bit version and...64 bit systems in large part just not being supported for much anymore, it's not as much of a concern, so these are free to venture out into the wild. TL;DR I just wanted to say that Klei updating old items...likely doesn't indicate plans to use them. Powder Keg is still a great idea, though. Even if it ended up being a skin. They're super old cut/unused stuff. The HD art isn't new art, but rather the original art before it was compressed in case someone was wondering why they'd make unused stuff HD.
