Combat and Experiment 52B.

I propose combat as an alternative way of collecting resin from Experiment 52B.  Reducing the tree to 0 health could temporarily KO it, causing resin to leak out.  This would be balanced by the damage it inflicts upon its attackers, thus creating a need for triage cots and, optionally, doctors.  Experiment 52B wouldn't consume calories or be attacked while KO'd, thus resin production would be halted until it recovers from the KO.  The recovery time could be tuned to balance it so that calories and combat are both viable alternatives.

Last time one of my dupe was nearly slapped to death so I gave an attack order using the "T" key to the tree. As soon as I clicked on it, the game crashed. I reported the bug and Klei fixed it in the recent "Unexplained trait" update by not allowing attack so nothing happens. I also wrote in my post hoping some combat reward dropoff just like in DS. Resin sounds a good idea but can be potentially exploited by repetition, and faster if you have a brainwashed duplicant with regenerative trait. Resin should just be the excretion after consuming food. Lumber and leaf meat makes more sense. Under debug mode, I was pleased to find leaf meat as a new element in the food category using the spawner function, and wished it could be there in a future update sometime.

It's already implemented, saturn critter traps drop it on harvest after digesting a critter, it's more calorie dense than the meat from the critter but the food quality is lower and can't be cooked, you also use polluted water in the process.

Also if the tree dropped plant meat, then it could eat itself when it wakes up.....

At least we should have Taekwondo in the game - A nice dojo for the dupes to relax with sports activity - That would be great :p

The poke shells need a real poke ! Triage cots...Mhhhh, yahhhhh ! Doctors in proper outfit :p

+1 the self eating tree, excellent :beguiled: Nowadays its hard to find games which play out such champagne brilliance. Klei could pickup on this. Either the tree survives by eating itself, or the dupes snatch the meat away.
