Shove voles in Spaced Out?

Recommended Posts

They were added in the Breath of Fresh Air update with the Regolith asteroid.  So, if you've started a new game in the last 4 weeks, they should be out there.  Otherwise, nope.  Also, the printing pod in Spaced Out only offers things you've already encountered.  So, no Shove Voles until you get to the Regolith asteroid.

In my current game (small planetoids cluster) I’ve been offered both pips and shove voles before encountering either in the game. Between cycle 200-300 before I rocketed to the forest planet and before I even discovered the regolith planet. Maybe a bug?

No idea.  I haven't seen that behavior, but I also only play on the stable branch.  (I learned my lesson after the radiation fiasco where half my base went into a death spiral of vomiting.  Fun times.)  Strange things sometimes happen on the testing branch.  Various settings have, at times, been accidentally switched and then switched back in an update a day or two later.

Might be a leftover from the base game. There is an achievement for taming every critter in the game but no map has them all so the only way to get it is to print the missing ones. That`s why the printer might offer critters not encountered but likely won`t offer plants and resources.

Not that i'm against being able to print them, but wouldn't you normally be able to get the 'remaining' critters from space in the base game?

Iirc not all of the critters were avialable in space for some reason. I don`t remember if they added them all in eventually.

Regolith asteroid also has regular meteor showers.

Lmao.. so now we have to go to an asteroid to see meteors fall.. immersion.

So that meteor is gonna be where I ship regolith NONSTOP to my actual base? D: I guess regolith melter is back on the menu.

yep, meteors are back, I am so excited to develop the asteroid. It has 500C water geyser in my seed to sustain life.

I also have some strange feelings that we have occasional meteor falls in chlorine and niobium asteroids but very rare.

It is the niobium asteroid and I do not use any regolith there and the planet does not have it (unlike moo asteroid) but you can see it right on top of the solar panel. I do not have Voles there but wild puffs flying in vacuum.

In the gassy moonlet gassy moo fall from the sky, as gassy mooteors which don't yield anything but the gassy moo in impact and a trail of natural gas when it goes through the "atmosphere".

are you sure that the debris in the solar panel is not sand? if not then i'm wrong, sorry.

Yes, it is regolith, for sure (not sand). Even more to say, one of this regolith damaged one of my solar panels. But it happened only twice during more than 1000 cycles and do not see it anymore. for the past 500 cycles. Perhaps, it was fixed.

More interesting about mooteors. As I understand they do not damage solar panels. Anyone figure out how to get moos under the surface automatically so they can eat these grass and produce natural gas? I did it in a vanilla game (manually with traps) but just to get an achievement and it was a real hassle.

What about a lure with bleach stone (makes no sense i know, but it works) and a door, the gasy moos go inside to get to the lure and a door closes (critter sensor) when they are about to get it, the door to the outside closes and one to a sealed room opens, gassy moo enters and gets feed with harvested gas grass, the planetoid isn't very tall. Gas grass just grows outside even wild if you want, dupes harvest and the harvested gas grass goes to the gassy moo, if you want to you can mutate the gas grass for efficiency. if you only want the achievement just get him inside with the same method, they also drop meat like a shove vole and there is always like 20 flying around if i saw correctly. (i dont have the dlc, this is all compiled info from what i can see and dig info for).

The regolith solar panel could have been a bug from a meteor falling in the regolith planetoid but getting into the dark sides where other planetoids are transferring itself to the other border in the super conductive planetoid, it's just a theory and probably has been fixed. do you have a regolith asteroid in your map? if not, do you have activated the tear opener, it makes a heavy meteor shower in the planetoid it resides after activated (i think).

I did lure moo and use door traps and all these tricks to get the achievement in the base game. I brought like 6 moos (it was possible with biomodule). They were not luring really well if at all (and I tried different baits).

It did not work well. After several attempts, I just decided to build a room around it in the rocket pen and then try to catch it. As it was suggested I reduce the size of the room around moo to the minimum but still could not catch it. So I decided to build a grooming station in the rocket pen (of course I had to disassemble the rocket) and domesticate it there. While making all the modification, meteor shower came and hit one of the moos. It got status trapped and then I could actually catch it. So I brought it to the ranch with grass and measured how much natural gas it produces. It was nothing compared to efforts (considering no reproduction).

In DLC, moos are good source of meat. You can simply send a rocket to collect the meat from the asteroid surface. But I was thinking someone may have a creative idea how to get them under the surface without all these traps and lures.

I thought to make small rooms with gas grass inside (they need pressure to grow so they cannot grow on the asteroid surface); put a sensor if one moo goes into the room by chance, the door closes and the process starts with natural gas production till the moo dies. But it sounds very inefficient.

Regarding regolith theory you may be right. It could come from the regolith planet. It also can be related to some regolith planet bug I reported. I have a whole vertical line in the middle of regolith planet where I cannot build anything.
