Should Sleeping Be Neccesity?

Recommended Posts

as much as i'd like to see sleeping being a proper mechanic that players can do, this just sounds like a replacement to the sanity mechanic.

edit: i'm all for replacements to the sanity mechanic to get rid of... outdated terms, but this doesn't feel like a good way to go about it.

What if a good sleep gave u a small temporary buff like +% all stat instead of punishing the player for not sleeping.

This. The way to go about this is to add more of a benefit to sleeping, rather than add a punishment to players for not sleeping.

pain

but how would this mechanic even work with her downside anyway? Would she just be forced to pass out or something?

isn't that already the case?

no, you lose sanity at dusk, night and being in the caves but there is not extra penalty for not sleeping

sleeping its just a easy way to recover sanity and health. Is good for new players since they will not know what recipes healths or what veggies recover your sanity, etc, so, in this game, everything doesnt need to be "worth". Its like pretty parasol vs eyebrella, for a new player obtaining the eye ball or pig skin could be a challenge so having a less effective but easier tool to solve a problem can be the thing that makes them keep playing the game

Sleeping isn’t interactive, and because of the hunger drain you pay for the time you spent sleeping, and more time for the extra hunger you lost while sleeping.

As an alternative way to regain sanity (and health) sleeping is fine as a mechanic.

As a basic need it is a terrible design.
