Old Rustic Water Pumps and Wells

Recommended Posts

As the title suggests, adding Wells or even Old-Styled water pumps that would be randomly generated in few places and have to be used manually in order to drain water would be very unique. With that would come alot of uses, aswell as a "drinking" mechanic, since our survivors don't drink water at all, and hydranation isn't touched in the slightest regarding the human organism. It may sound tedious and boring to keep your character hydrated, but with that there could come many other uses for the water, for example moistening farms soil to quicken up the crops growth instead of stuffing poop and rot into it, using water to cool yourself off during summer, building giant mills for gods sake! This could open many doors to quality of life structures, items and tools that would not only be helpful in your day-to-day survival or megabasing but also somewhat of a mechanic that you have to keep track of and don't forget about. I know this game isn't very realistic and this idea would probably be blown away into the ground, but the potential of the water-based structures, items etc. have too much potential to go to waste. Id be happy if even something like a Water Can was added to DST for QoL purposes just like the dust cleaner we got in recent update. Taken notice that ice already serves somewhat of a role in water-like structures such as Moon dial and Scaleomatic, it wouldn't have to be replaced by water and just stay as ice, or those particular structures having to be filled with water instead of ice. Ice and water can co-exist in this environment. There could also be easy to make water containers/bidons to sate your thirst and bring along, instead of caring gallons of water by your side aswell as store it in your base in for example barrels.

You mean like the ones that are found in the games vignettes and profile icons but are NOT actually in the game? Yes I would like to have these please :)

but maybe just for cosmetic purpose, having to manage drinking water and food in other survival games has not been any fun, the Atlas has a cool Mini-game where you need to dig dirt up to get drinking water, Ark you just run for the nearest ocean and drink from it, 7 days to die you had to “Bottle” your Water and then “Boil” the Contamination out of it in Order to drink it.

But overall this would just further complicate the game- and if included at all should be strictly tied to settings or difficulties you can toggle on or off.

however being able to put Water/Firefly Bugs/Bottle Jam/Honey in Pearls Message Jars, would certainly give Pearls Jars more Utility then they have Now.

Adding thirst as a mechanic would probably take a lot of time and effort for the devs so I don't think it has a potential of being added unless devs plan on making 'Big update chain 3' in the future.

Structures that utulize water and stuff like that would be nice. Problem is that even if devs were to add them they'd have to spend quite some time changing existing mechanics to start making sense

Thinking аbout something not too complicated to аdd in а game... hmm. :wilson_confused:

You could probably use these water pumps OR well (I think there is а room for only one of those structures) to lower your temperature аt summer. Of course, you've аlreаdy got your endothermic fire to lower it, but it could give you some sortа buff I guess. Plus, you could also make water balloons with it just by using 1 or 2 mosquito sacks without аny ice.

adding a hydration mechanic into the game isn't necessary. but there can be many applications for a water food item with unique buffs and crockpot ingredient.

could add beverage crockpot recipes for a start. like fruit and vegetable drinks to squeeze out utility from farms since they're a bit of a mediocre source of food. e.g. fruit punch, 1x fruit, honey, water, empty bottle..

also, something important to builders or to make the task of carrying marble heads less monotonous, have the consumption of water speed up your character while carrying structures.

another addition of water could be aiding in the domestication of beefalo. it's currently a task that many players don't bother with since the domestication process is such a pain and is barely worth the effort. perhaps when a beefalo in the process of being tamed is in heat, water could "cool" it down. it fits a pun criteria and makes domestication during times when beefalo are being horndogs more bearable
