So I'm doing a Lights out challenge as Wilson, any advice?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! So to make this short, I previously did a lights out game with Wendy eventually up until I killed Deerclops, and I had a lot of fun doing it especially with the  Rework! I wanna try one out with Wilson, except eventually in the series I want to build out and attempt to base somewhere in the surface world, one idea I had was basing on the lunar island due to it having the lunar fissions giving a free source of light,  only problem is that there's a lot of things to think about, such as no birds spawning(to start a farm with, if crops even grow in a night only world...) and a huge amount of other mechanics so, what would be a good plan for a lights out world with Wilson, I'm not the best, at doing these challenges, (especially boss or ruin raids.) But hopefully I'm lucky!

Here's a few tips:

-First if you wanna have crops you'll need some firefly, since crops do need light time. Place a firefly ontop of each of your farm and it should do the trick. Doesn't work anymore thx @Viktor234 for the info

-To get a bird for a bird cage you'll need to do some RNG with a catcoon. Befriend one and hope for the best. In my previous attempt, i got a bird after day 10-12 ish.

-To get the regular seed for the birdcage you'll need to be lucky with tumbleweed RNG.

-If you wanna do a infinite light source set up and never bother of temperature within any season, i suggest you do this set up in your base.

It does require you to do some ruin stuff for a star caller staff, requires you to kill dragonfly and do the moon event, but the payback is really worth the investment. Big light radius and like i said because of the two scale furnace and the moon caller staff in the middle you wont ever have temperature problem either.

-Finally living near a sinkhole can also be a good idea since the bats will ever spawn once. Easy access to lightbulbs every now and then.

That trick doesn't work in DST anymore: You either need a natural light source (Spotlights in the cave or Star Caller's Staff) or fertilize them to make them grow instant.

I tried this.. but ran into some problems- the world always being lights out proved to be too difficult to be able to successfully redeem my Gift Curios On time.

And as I’m sure you are aware- You can not earn any new curios until you’ve opened the one you’ve yet to open.

Because of this, I don’t really do “Challenge” maps anymore, Because if I earn a Curio while playing lights out it also has to be OPENED in Lights Out.. so uhh unless your just really good at Lights Out you won’t be opening your Curios in a timely manner.

Considering you won't be able to do any boss early and mid game. Making a base in the lunar island you'll need a fire pit, icebox, 1 ice flingomatic and lightning rod (you can do it with none if you don't mind losing some stuff as long as you space them well), thermal stone, grass tufts, pine cones.

With that you can live a long time, but that's about it, just living and doing nothing really. You then just add whatever you want.

Thank you Everyone who gave out a bunch of their suggestions and thoughts so far! The reason why I asked earlier before about seeds was because I originally was going to do it with Warly, but then I realized that making a proper farm would probably be nearly impossible, I would have to be a freaking casino winner with the percent chances. I'm currently on the low day 20 of the game trying a unique idea, Building on boat, that way I can collect bull kelp, and fish as food for meat balls.so far I'm doing an allright job! I found a bottle for the  hermit Island that Way I can perhaps try to get better fishing equipment to get better fish! So I'll make sure to try out the ideas brought from you guys! Thank you everyone!!!
