The content of the update was fine but the realization that all future islands are most likely gonna be moon-oriented kind of made me less interested in future updates.

And i hate how these boats look like, i guess there is nothing you could do about that tho since different designs might make placement of structures harder and Klei probably wants to make the ocean content in DST looks/fell different that the ones in SW.

I think the update is fine but I'm not a big fan of the boss.

I'm not entirely sure how he works since I haven't fought him for myself yet, but after looking at a couple guides, he looks like the type of boss that you don't tank or dodge, but instead just try to cancel all his attacks.

The panflute got nerfed vs him but it was just replaced by spamming ice staffs right before he starts his attacks to stop them. I would prefer it if he had more moves that you can't cancel and damage the player themselves instead of the boat, since there is no way to dodge attacks on a boat and repairing them can be expensive.

Again, I'm not entirely sure on how the boss works. There might be a very possible way to fight him normally but using ice staffs is just easier.

I like the update for the most part, except the crab king.

The crab king solo is a major resource sink, and just a boring fight of having to cancel his geyser attack with ice staves and manage the claws.
I've done the fight plenty of times in practice, the only way to really make it less of a resource sink is to either play Wolfgang or use a spicy volt goat jelly during spring, or heck even both.

If klei really want people to steer the boat around to try to dodge the attacks, they should make boats control less like a catatonic whale.

If klei was going for a fight that encourages range, then either add more range options, or make blow darts less of a grind to get in bulk, really the only way to get a ton of azure feathers quickly relies on having Wickerbottom.

So all in all, not a fan of the Crab King fight, but I'll still end up doing it for the sake of completion.

Meanwhile- Update still not out for PS4 and Xbox.. I’m predicting it’ll be tomorrow, or Thursday If not tomorrow.

All we can do is wait and pray. But I’m positive it’ll come out soon! Can’t wait to see the new skins...and the new hermit island of course.

I’m having a hard time finding anything in my current world gen- I must’ve got a terrible generated world because I’m sailing a big empty boring sea.. the boat moves soooo incredibly slowly.. maybe it’s easier playing with more people, but as someone who mostly plays solo and using an Xbox Controller.. it Is pain in the Butt to operate the boat effectively as a single player.

Me and the boat cookie have a love hate relationship going on currently, I Love that Enemy Mobs can climb into it and attack me.. I love being able to freely place structures onto it, but what I DONT Love is the shape, size and mechanics behind steering it when playing Solo.

I loved the Shipwrecked boats, the way they looked, the upgrades you can give them.. these abnormally large cookies just feel.. so Idk, well large and uhh super slow? lol.

I know Return Of Them is Incomplete But Currently there’s not much reason for me to want to build a boat & sail. At least not as a Solo Player.. Hopefully that will change someday.

Oh and one more thing I should mention- Why the Heck is the button to heave your sail and the button to open the tin fishing bin both bound to A? Grrrr I don’t want to open the Tin Fishing Bin KLEI.. I want to heave my sail upward so I don’t crash into that sea stac...

The boat mechanics aren’t the best, I’ll admit, once I was playing with a Wornwood and a Webber (I was Wortox) and rowing was terrible, most of us were freezing, and we forgot to bring light. If the sailing mechanics are bad in multiplayer, I can kind of imagine how it is solo.

I'm thinking about the players that want to make music. Maybe I'd be less annoyed if they were stackable.

Yes we need music! I want more options for the seashells.

To be fair, I didn't like this update much. To me ocean exploration is still something that is completely not enjoyable with DST boats (because of how slow, clunky and resource-intensive it is plus all the seastacks in the way, for which you have to slow down to a crawl...), therefore this update added nothing I will even bother with unless I run out of things to do on the main land. Exploring the ocean is acceptable only as Weregoose.
About the crabby hermit quests... kinda whatever. Find the island as Woodie, build a boat bridge to it and go back and forth between the main land and the crabby hermit island to bring her what she needs. And finding bottles across the ocean to trade with her is something I will definitely not be doing.
Crab King boss. I don't like him and I don't see myself beating him, especially after the pan flute nerf. And no matter how good the Celestial Tribute is gonna be in the future, I doubt it's going to be worth the hassle of obtaining the pearl and beating this boss in the first place.

Clean Sweeper though, that's awesome. Such a good QoL feature plus the ability to get skins for non-craftable items. Surprisingly the most exciting part of the update.

Yeah, it can be slow and the seastacks can be annoying. I wish there were more rewards and hopefully more lunar stuff and self sustaining ways to live on sea instead of the mainland at all.

When I get really bored tho I just prepare extra boat repair kits with my surplus of Abigail's stingers and glass axe-cut wood and just go forward and ram into any seastack I see :D

Yeah - on PC the boat isn't so bad because you can directly click on things you need to interact with.  On console the button binding is pretty bad already, but add to that having a cluttered boat and never being able to interact with the correct thing...  I was playing ps4 over the weekend and had a bit of a boat base going up, but I missed selecting the anchor and collided ruining the entire thing...

Klei should seriously spend some time considering controller bindings for this game.  Playing on PC and Console its just... Console is so difficult to play!  Having to stand still to select crafting, or to refuel / sew, odd bindings for left/right buttons, stop moving when looking at map, difficulty selecting one thing among many, attacking while facing away from an enemy because the attack button is nothing like the keyboard F...

The game wasn't built for consoles and it shows.  Klei should really spend a bit of time re-working the game to just be more playable with controller.  I really see no reason why a decent set of bindings can't be figured out.

Left stick - dedicated to movement.  Right stick dedicated to targeting.  Just give us a reticle and let us target.  Have it snap to whatever is closest.  When you open the crafting menu or inventory zoom let us keep the left stick for moving!  Use the right stick for navigating crafting or inventory zoom.  When you select something like souls or lazy explorer let the right stick free-aim.  If you have a creature targeted with the right stick have the attack button work like force attack on keyboard, DON'T JUST STAND THERE SWINGING AT NOTHING that ability to just stand and swing is the worst feature...
