davidino91
Hi I found a problem with the algal terrarium, if in senbox mode you put it in a room without gas. it will begin to produce oxygen. so in my opinion the algae terrarium should only convert carbon dioxide into oxygen. then I would recommend introducing a new structure to convert carbon dioxide into oxygen with algae. this machine would need electricity, entry for liquids (water), gas inlet (carbonic anhydride) and gas outlets (oxygen), and exit for liquids (dirty water). I know it looks like the Carbon Skimmer. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/113752-algae-terrarium-problems/ Share on other sites
Soulwind
Algae terrarium produces O2 and polluted water. That's what it has always done. Oxyfern plants convert CO2 into O2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/113752-algae-terrarium-problems/#findComment-1285654 Share on other sites
psusi
Algae terreriams convert algae and some water into oxygen, and happen to consume some CO2 if available as a bonus. I was quite surprised and annoyed to see that oxyferns require the CO2. So I would argue that the oxyferns should not require the CO2 either. They convert water to oxygen as well, with an additional cost of dirt. The CO2 requirement and rarity of the seeds kind of makes them useless. Primalflower
i think algae terrariums have a pretty good spot in the game right now as a way to generate a pretty great amount of oxygen, for less algae, but muuuuuuch more water. Last I tried to use algae terrariums, one building of it + it's polluted water bottle made enough for one whole dupe, which is pretty great, given how much less algae was spent. And if you leave the polluted water to sit and offgas, then cleaning the polluted oxygen with deodorizers you get tons of oxygen for not much water and also a ton of clay for ceramic. Neotuck
I made a post last year about maximizing O2 production with algae terrariums on top of mech doors and deodorizers After some trial and error I have made this which can be built by cycle 50 without rushing, I'm happy to say even after a year of updates and new content, this build still works pretty well Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/113752-algae-terrarium-problems/#findComment-1286128 Share on other sites
