Satyrical364
I would really like an automatable siren alarm that blares in response to green signals. This will let me set up a warning system whenever an important module quits working. For example, you can set it up to a atmo sensor to tell if your electrolysis module reaches low pressure, indicating a water supply problem. Or you could set it up to tell if your oil biome gets super pressurized, indicating unwanted oil and lava contact, or a backup in your natural gas storage. LokeUtgaard
I was actually coming in here to post exactly this suggestion. I would love to have an automation object, that was able to send a custom text to the warning message area, when receiving a green signal. JesusOnEez
This would have been great for my steam turbine cooling...the oil stopped flowing around and gradually got hotter and hotter and hotter...a siren blaring at a given temperature would have alerted me to the fact before it became a big problem. Cool idea. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/111066-automation-item-siren-alarm/#findComment-1251681 Share on other sites
SharraShimada
There is already a mod at steam, doing exaclty this. Giving the options to name the signal, make it just a message, an alert or even pause the game. Mods should change gameplay to tastes. It shouldn't be necessary to mod in basic functionality and quality of life. This isn't a one man shop like Kerbal was for ages or Dwarf Fortress will always be. EDIT: Sorry, that came off a little harsh. Yes, there are mod options for a lot of things. I prefer to keep my game vanilla for multiple reasons. I'm sure you were just offering an alternative, but I want the game to do what it should, not me have to plug in a bunch of tools to make it happen. Tekky
I am also in favor of a new entity being added to the game similar to Factorio's Programmable Speaker. I find them very useful in Factorio and I'm sure they would also be useful in ONI. AverageHuman
What if there was an alarm that in addition to creating a noise that can be heard by tthe player from across the map, it also automatically put the colony in red alert mode so the dupes can deal with whatever the extremely urgent problem is. It would probably have to have some kind of manual override, in case it got stuck in the on position.
