Ban geysers via modifying game files - is it possible?

Recommended Posts

I've tried to find them, but failed. I only know how to change/increase the amount of biomes in some given world and possibly the amount of geysers from default 12 which I don't want to meddle with.

So say I wanted to play on Aridio but wanted to guarantee no Cool Slush geyser. Can I do that in the files somewhere or can I only debug-check map?

you could try save file editor...

Not a bad option. If you find a cool slush, change it to something else. The question would be how do you choose what you change it to? Not much point of eliminating the "chesty" cool slush geyser if you just replace it with another beneficial geyser/vent/volcano of your choice.

Honestly, if I want to eliminate a certain type of geyser and didn't hand pick a matching seed from toolsnotincluded.net I'd probably just force myself to keep the geyser sealed once found and just deal with one less geyser.

I'm kinda surprised someone with experience modifying the wold gem files hasn't poked their head in and either told the OP how to edit them or if it's even possible to eliminate just one geyser result from world generation.

Well, personally I now know I can make it on any map under any conditions, the only difference is the amount of effort and time needed. Hence I have stopped playing for the survival aspect and just build things with whatever is there, the easier, the better.

I know I can use toolsnotincluded, but I have something rather specific in mind and the map isn't there (yet) :) The Cool Slush was an example, I thought there was a way to ban stuff to then experiment with some funky configurations.

Oh well, thanks nonetheless :)

You could edit the yaml files for mapgen, but you'd have to specify exact geysers or figure out how to specify a random geyser from a list. The random geyser selection is hardcoded in the binary, but they are all mapped by id.

Certain asteroids really should have certain geysers banned by default.  Like Rime should be all cold ones and aridio should have only warm/hot ones.  I guess the geyser spawn code hasn't been integrated with start conditions yet?
