Is it like Australia day where everybody walk around laughing at the coward who decided to hide under a servant's bed? It was something about the governor deciding on how to use land and ordered all buildings removed without compensation if they didn't match his plan, sending some guy to jail in order to make his land available and banning booze. When people said enough is enough, he decided to just hide under the bed instead of dealing with the problem. Looking up Canada day, I'm sorry to say that the history behind it looks political and rather boring compared to what Australia came up with. There is no rebellion or army switching side or anything like that. In fact there is a complete lack of "we won over the bad guy" hype in it.
