Junksteel
They have different properties for heat transfer and yet they look almost like the same color when mixed together. Idk If I love it. I used sandbox to freeze some salt water and when it melted I got some brine back instead. It would be cool to see what people tinkered around these two new elements. I'm overwhelmed by all the new stuff. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/108144-brine-and-salt-water/ Share on other sites
chromiumboy
Thermal properties aside, was there a need to include both brine AND salt water? They seem too similar imo Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/108144-brine-and-salt-water/#findComment-1216678 Share on other sites
Glassyfo
Isn't brine technically super salty water? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/108144-brine-and-salt-water/#findComment-1216685 Share on other sites
foosda
"Freezing" salt water turns it into 90% solid ice, and 10% liquid brine. Brine boils to 36% salt, 64% steam. Salt water boils to 2% salt, 98% steam. Desalinator turns brine into 30% salt, 70% water, and salt water into 7% salt, 93% water. Promethien
Salt water freezes at -7.5 Brine freezes at -22.5 Makes brine a decent coolant until you get some oil. Ethanol has a lower freeze point but much worse conductivity. foosda
The numbers are different proportionally from something like Oil & Refineries, but conceptually its a similar idea: there are advantages to doing something yourself instead of using a building to do it. Is it the numbers? oh, sorry, didnt see the first line "freezing salt water converts it into 90% ice and 10% brine", so i thought that freezing salt water converted some of the water into salt what i still dont understand, is that you get more salt from boiling brine than desalinating it. and more salt from desalinating salt water than boiling it. Isn't this like the difference in Water and Dirt between Sieving Polluted Water, and Boiling it?
