Reed fiber alternatives

If you're just throwing extra dreckos you'd normally just drown or eat the eggs, the room doesn't have to be very large. I usually make it just large enough to have 6 or so shearing stations and some room for sweepers. For 20x4 or maybe a couple wider. They hatch, wander around, get sheered a couple times, then starve to be meat.

Never tame a drecko. They breed like rabbits.
If you don't ever groom them in the 1st place. They don't ever get tame. They don't ever starve.
You don't have to manage with the eggs. Moving them here or there. Incubation priority over getting the eggs for food.
Just leave them wild.
There's gotta be around 50 on map. You don't have to groom even 1 to drecko to get more to spread them into more rooms.
You can stick more wild in the same size room than you can tame. Tame 13.7 per tile max 7.
Wild once you you get above 128 tiles you can cram 100 in there.
Or you can do individual rooms. Although I just leave them open with water on each side to lock them in.
You can gather 6 or you can gather them all. Stick in a room 128+ tiles 3 wide with a 2x2 water on each side and they get stuck right at shear station.
Shave them 10x's they drop an egg and die off.
Well actually with enough time. They will multiply. I think the only critter that does multiply when wild.
I started with 2 in a room and ended up with 6. I had a shine bug in there but the drecko took over

If you eat any of the eggs you have to tame them to get the extra egg and your going to have to incubate them.
No that's what hatches to start then transition to slickster. Leave the rest alone but still get reed fiber.

What I'm saying is I never tame them.

Maybe this is why they have the rust biome dreckos that look kinda like placeholders. Eventually we probably should have an alternative so that we can progress on maps without both slime and jungle.

At the moment, there aren't any.  All of the maps have jungle.

Nah. I have a nice little drecko ranch setup with autosweepers for the eggs and a water pool to force the eggs into the proper room. Takes a while to build, but once I've bred my glossy dreckos, I can ignore it and collect my free plastic and reed fiber.

The only critters I leave wild (when ranching them) are shov voles and Pacus.

That's what I mean because I'd bet that we're eventually guaranteed a new map with no slime nor jungle so an alternative or recipe change will be needed and pretty nice.
