This is a relatively common question so let me try and summarize how this is generally handled. You only use hot steam vent water in things that have fixed output temps, electrolizers, carbon skimmers and oil wells. The output of those three devices are fixed so input temp does not matter. Dump your hot water into them. However that does not help your crops so the general solutions are Emergency solution Sieve a tank of polluted water it comes out at 40C, add ice temp shift plates to taste (you should have some ice from an ice biome) and you have bought yourself a lot of time Sieve polluted water, it always comes out at 40C then one trip through an aqua tuner and you have 26C water but you will pay a lot of power for it. 1.2KW/s for every 10kg/s of water. Also you really need a steam turbine (Plastic) to make it a set and forget design. But once it's done you never have to think about it again. Additionally as a vegetarian you are instantly better than other non vegetarians. OR Join the church of ranching, stone hatches and/or slicksters don't need any water. They are much more resistant to heat and you get to make vegetarian jokes. Down sides are it's requires a lot more space and it's more labor intensive. Feeding lots of hatches does requires a lot of rock delivery chores. Final note, most of the vents and geysers around the map should not be messed with until you have hit mid game and got lots of refined metals to play with or you have experience dealing with them and know how to handle them early in the game. Full disclosure I am a card carrying member of the church of ranching but I am also a preacher of the goddess of Black and Gold. As such I am obligated to tell you that you should get into oil and petroleum as soon as reasonably possible, the rewards she offers are life changing. If they nerf the icemaker, then things will change. 4 hours ago, JohnFrancis said: add ice temp shift plates ...made from the ice maker, to melt the ice. This is a safe way to melt ice without enabling matter duplication. Just prebuild 30 tempshift plates, and then forget about it for a while. You will have to eventually return to rebuild (bonus - construction training). Or, use automation, a sweeper, some conveyor belts running through metal doors, and watch your 80C pool of water near your cool steam vent drop to 10C (you might want a temp sensor to shut the ice makers off at your desired temp). If you aren't careful though, you will enable the liquid duplication bug (which means each 50kg ice chunk made will melt and produce 100kg of near 0C water - extra cooling.) If you haven't got Thermium, what are your Aquatuners built out of that they can go up high enough to boil oil into petrol? As I wrote, that was my plan and my goal... I still haven't worked out a viable method of doing it without Thermium. On the other hand.. I did have some success using obsidian gas pipes filled with steam to move heat from a volcano. I may have to build something using the lava under the oil biome. Its strange that 6 months ago I couldn't cool stuff enough -- and now I can't generate enough heat to keep things stable.
