fishoutofwater
what will happen when the temperature reach the point where it turn into petroleum or even to sour gas, black hole? Lawnmower Man
It will undergo phase change in situ but break the output pipe. You may need to rebuild the output pipe many times to empty it. It's still considered a phase change with regards to breaking pipes. Boxman_90
I agree it makes little sense, but it is how the game works. I expected I could change crude oil to petroleum in heated radiant pipes, but after finishing my build the pipes simply broke and there was petroleum all over. Even compensating for expansion by only pumping 5kg/s yields the same result. Annoying and counter-intuitive, unrealistic even, but it is how it is. Saturnus
Technically we can still consider it a phase change in the sense that there is a heat loss, so you can consider it to have briefly evaporated into petroleum gas which instantly condenses into liquid petroleum and that the double phase change is not covered by the game because it happens so fast it would be impossible to separate the two phase changes. 41 minutes ago, Boxman_90 said: I agree it makes little sense, but it is how the game works. If you limit flow rate to 10% of the pipe capacity there will be no phase change damage to the pipes. Note however that the actual phase change takes place when then liquid or gas exits a vent or any other type of liquid output, like a pipe bridge. So if you have the 10% flow limit you can heat up or cool down way past the phase change limit and as long as the liquid or gas in question is cooled down or heated up again before it hits any pipe output it will remain the same element. Yes but then the oil won't change into petroleum. Its not a phase change that breaks pipes, it's element change. The game counts gas and liquid as different elements.
