Suggestion: Make Research More Three-Dimensional

Research right now is incredibly straight forward and dull.  You build a couple stations and then you output research towards whatever goal you like until you get it....  That's it...  It's bland.  I feel like you need to add something to research to make it interesting.  

For example, make it impossible to research something unless you've located something to inspire research in the first place.  Alien technology for example, found in one of the many ruins in the asteroids.  Or maybe:

* mine coal to get coal plant

* Get a sick duplicant to unlock med bed

* Wait three days for your duplicants to get sick of eating without a table before requesting a mess table

Nothing like a 3D tech tree in a 2D game :p

I kinda agree that it`s too straightforward. At least up until space tech where you need to send space missions to get the research done. I`m thinking there should be a mid tier research requiring oil.

While i agree, that its dull, and is sufficient, but it could be improved upon, i also feel like saying, that the thing you came up with, would be TERRIBAD. 

Just imagine, accidentially infecting a dupe with slime really badly, the others dont get infected, so thats cool, but you have one dupe, thats going to DIE, because you didn't have a medbed beforehand, because you couldn't, because it only unlocks when you get a dupe sick. 
 

Research could be better, sure, but making requisites like that would make it worse than it is now. IMO atleast.
