Guaranteed natural Gas Geysers in MK1?

Recommended Posts

I've searched ~85% of the map. The parts I've not searched are mostly fossil and cold . I still have not found a Natural Gas Geyser. Are they no longer guaranteed spawns? Btw, I really do hope the devs consider adding a natural gas / water source near base. It's a bit boring when its 40 cycle setup, then 100 cycles of cannot find X geyser.

you can check if it has it, using this seed searcher.

I can't really figure out how to search my seed 1965507845, but cool site will use it before game possible next time.

(it looks like it's just a list of submitted maps)

ah yeah you are right. I found it yesterday and use it other way around (just add geysers i want to find right seed) - i didn't try to find seed there.

Very useful information

Swamp has 1 guaranteed and Caustic has one or a Chlorine instead.

Finally found it! In the top left most swamp biome. Oh boy that was stressful, cycle 148.

Still wish it was a bit closer to base but oh wells!

Hopefully it's a good one to make up for the distance.

It's great! I checked on https://onical.ga/ and it's a 93 percentile one. Theres actually another one further up right next to space! Right below it is a hydrogen geyser. holy energy galore.

Come back when you've searched the whole map. You're guaranteed at least 1.

I had a seed without any, I verified by clearing the entire map in debug.  I believe it happens when it's overwritten by a POI.

My current seed is the same. The tool says it has one, but it doesn't, POI probable reason. Actually provides another challenge, though, So far, at almost 700 cycles, I've still got enough NG with fertilizer makers and oil refinery. Certainly not as much as I would like, and still using some coal, but it's not a game breaker.

Once you know what the 5 guaranteed Geyser templates look like, it's incredibly easy to tell if another PoI has overridden the Geyser.

The Upper NatGas vent is still completely intact, showing what the Caustic NatGas Vent template looks like.  It will always look like this, unless it is overridden by another Geyser or Point of Interest.  This Geyser has a 50/50 chance against the Caustic Chlorine Vent.  The Chlorine Vent template takes about 50% of it's inspiration from the pockets of Bleach Stone that can be found all over, with the Vent itself breaking out and replacing the bottom left corner of such a formation.

The Swamp NatGas vent here has been dug out, so the template is basically not viewable here.  It consists of 2 small chambers right, separated by a thin wall of 1 to 2 tiles wide, extending up about 5 tiles.  The NatGas Vent will be on the left in the smaller of the 2 chambers, while the right will be mostly PO2.  There will be 1 Thimble Reed and 2 Dusk Caps growing in that chamber.

The Swamp Cool Steam template is very wide.  The Vent itself will be on the right side of the formation, with a wide but rather shallow pool of water in it laying out to the left from the Vent.  There are several Thimble Reeds growing in it, I think 4 of them.  And most notably, there will be a large volume of Oxygen in the chamber, as well as a buffer zone around it where the Slime tiles that comprise the template spawning naturally with zero Slimelung germs on them.  The lack of Slimelung is the dead giveaway that the Cool Steam Vent should be there.

The final template is the Caustic Cool Steam Vent.  It is more narrow, with a deepish pool underneath and to the right of the Vent itself.  There will be 3 Pincha Plants growing in the chamber, one of them rooted into the right most Neutronium tile.  The chamber itself is mostly surrounded by Phosphorite, particularly the top right over the pool.  And just like the Swamp Vent, the chamber will be mostly filled with Oxygen.
