Spyro1
So I finally got RoG and after reading about so many people complaining about the difficulty and especially summer I was actually surprised because in my world (currently day 73) I just came out f summer, survived all the seasons and killed Moose, Goose with not too much difficulty. However in spring I experienced frog rain for the first time (Never knew it even existed until then). My issue with it is not that it a danger to me but that it is a danger to my world and more specifically catcoons. I read on the wiki that catcoons will only spawn up to 9 times out of their hollow stump and thus are non renewable. Now I really love catcoons they are just awesome to look at and so cute but frog rain must have killed at least 12 of them. So im worried about the extinction of catcoons in my world due to frog rain. Its not so much of an issue for me as I just run around and let my pigs deal with them however some of the frogs spawn off screen in the deciduous forrest biome that is right next to my base which screws up my catcoons and will eventually lead to the extinction of catcoons which would make me sad I think that this rain should be nerfed in the following ways to prevent the, from screwing around with your world - Frogs cant spawn further than one screen distance off screen.- Frogs are confined to a close proximity of their spawn preventing them from wandering off and causing -havoc with the world I dont know how much of an issue this is for you guys but I really dont want my catcoons going extinct
Palpetinus
First off, there is a RoG specific forum aswell, should have went there. And if you like your catcoons so much, go far away from them during frog rain.

Palpetinus
how does one know when to go though? If it's raining, just be aware that it could happen any moment and run away quickly as soon as the first one falls.
Catweaselcrow
In the unlikely event that every catcoon in your world uses up all its 9 lives, you can always assemble the Teleportato device and hop to a new world. If you pre-build all the structures you know how to build, and take a full inventory of useful gear, it doesn't take long to get set up again in the new world. Effectively, with the ability to world-jump, nothing ever runs out.
NeoDeusMachina
Also, if you find none of the previous suggestions satisfying, you also have the option to turn Frog Rain off in the world generation settings! All in all, after playing hundreds of hours of RoG, I never experienced a ressource depletion (catcoons, bees, etc) because of frog rain, don't worry! =)
Starved123
My Goats went extinct once because the spawned to close to a hound mound.... that sucked.
the truthseeker
Yeah, RoG Suggestions/Feedback is a whole other sub-forum-thread, not here. And answers were already suggested before my posting; use them. And (I can see you likely never did Adventure Mode with a Cold Reception to completion) if they are not enough, simply place multiple traps on the ground to trap frogs and build your base further away from the CatCoons.Like Pigs, you're not supposed to be next to them all the time (but at least they don't become Were-CatcCoons.) No way in hell im using the teleportato lol. Which is why I want to try preserve everything that is non renewable. Really wish there was a way to build hollow stumps. could be a third type of structure (same system as pig house, bunny hutch)

My base is in the perfect place. On one side is a swamp (Reeds close by) Other side is deciduous forrest other side is savannah and the other side is a forrest. The base itself has a pig king and a huge amount of space for me to build my base in. No other part of the map offers the same convenience. As I mentioned earlier frog rain isnt really an issue for me I literally just run away (not really much else I can do as their is simply too many of them and until I can build gear like dark sword, dark/thelocite armour I'm forced to let my pig men or something else deal with them. I hope hollow stumps are made renewable in a future update by making them build able (Could require 3 catcoon tails, 8 logs and string or something) Would really hate to see them go extinct I love just watching them they so funny and cute. Decelexevi
The fact that the frog rain stays local to your screen can be used to your advantage. I just drop them off close to my base and wipe them all out over a day or 2, but you can use them to end hound waves, or kill pretty much anything they aggro on. If your goal is to avoid them, simply run the hell away when they start coming. When you get back to base the most you'll have to deal with is like 6 of them that dropped right off the bat. Silentdarkness1
I'd say that Frog Rain isn't so much excessive, but really poorly timed. At least, for me it was. I got sucker-punched with one right on the last day of spring.

While frogs are annoyingly bothersome, they are easily resolvable (without using a bunch of tooth traps or a horde of followers.)I'm kind of Spoiling "A Cold Reception" 's game-plan, but: Simply run to where you want them to fall (once they start falling) then place several traps. Collect legs and reuse traps until all gone. You've just gotten day's worth of crock pot food or small jerky! If needed, you can get them "interested" in you, then run past the traps for them to trail you right into it (kind of a reverse Jackalope.) But whatever you do (short of using a marble suit or equivalent type of protection,) don't attack them directly! (That's like a collective going next to a spider tier 3 nest at the start of dusk and hitting a spider kind of hurt! )

If it really bothers you that much, just figure out the console command to spawn the stumps. If you want burn up a bunch of logs and cattails or whatever to 'make up' for using the console. Or maybe there's a mod out there that makes them spawn infinite. I seriously doubt we're ever going to get 'buildable' stumps as part of the base game. As for frog rain, if possible, lead them to you field of bee hives. Since it should be spring, the bees will be very angry! Frogs hordes are a menace, but bees are inifinite. And as a bonus, neither eats the other's drops, so you reap the rewards!
Duburrr
I've just had my 3rd frog rein in one spring. I do think that is a bit much. Mostly because of the clean up operation around my tooth traps and pig men. Frog legs everywhere! I already have more food than I know what to do with so I just ended up dumping half them in a fertilizer chest to turn into rot. Lucky it's no where near the catcoons so I don't have the op's problem. I think I made the beefalo go extinct in this world though (8 beefalo and not a single horn!)...
