  1. It seems the skins are being sent out in a separate email and we are being told that those are going out next week.
  2. Rotwood Matchmaking In Rotwood players will have access to multiple matchmaking tools. We have built systems to allow you players to effectively create their own lobbies to provide direct and indirect control over who you play with. Some of this is pretty unique, so we thought it would be worth explaining. Between Friends In Rotwood, you can see online players from your friends list and join with them directly. Simply click the join link and you're off. This feature is limited to privacy settings, so players with their profiles set to private will not be shown. With a Code When a game is created a special code is generated for the host. Provide this code to anybody you want. Message your code directly to friends or post it online for random people to join. Simply choose “Join a Game” and enter the code. Anybody can join with a code as long as there is still room in the group. Steam Groups This is where it gets interesting. Rather than traditional lobbies we have made use of Steam Community Groups to allow players to curate and moderate their own lobbies. You can either use groups that you are already a part of, or create your own group and add whoever you like. A Steam group can have tens or hundreds of thousands of players. Once some groups are established, being part of these groups will provide large random matchmaking lobbies. Players can list their games to their favorite groups and choose which groups to match with. As the host. When you create your game, choose which Steam Groups you would like to have access to your game. Other random players will then be able to join your game from their group menu. As a player, join a game, select a group you would like to find a game in and you will be randomly added to one of the games in the group. For more information about Steam Community Groups, click here. Discord Servers We are working directly with Discord on similar functionality for Discord Servers, coming soon. Like Steam Groups, you will be able to list and join games with players who are also members of your Discord servers that you are part of. While that’s not quite ready yet, you can currently list your game in Discord Servers to channels that allow it. With Rotwood open and a game hosted, click the + symbol in the chat box and choose “Invite #ChannelName to Play Rotwood”. Anybody with access to that channel will be able to instantly join your game. And finally - If you see somebody playing Rotwood in Discord and they have their game open to other players, You can click their name and ask to join from there!
  3. Here we go again! Rotwood is now in Early Access! Once again, we want to extend a huge “THANK YOU” to all of our playtesters and fans who have helped us up to this point. We appreciate the support and we can’t wait for you to see the results of that effort. While we do try our best to make Early Access an enjoyable experience for our players, this is a time of active development, feedback, and changes. If you prefer to wait until the game is more fully formed, we totally understand, and we’ll be sure to let everybody know before any future price changes. What is Rotwood? If you’re not yet familiar with Rotwood; you should check out the Early Access announcement here. There is a lot of great information about the game and Early Access details in there for you. What’s next? For those of you who aren’t familiar with how we handle Early Access, you can expect an update post that will describe our priorities and a description of the general development cadence. We then reevaluate internally at various times and provide a new plan as we approach the delivery of what was outlined. While we already have an idea of what we want to do, we would like to give the game some time to simmer with the community so we can listen carefully before committing to our next steps. It’s important to us to deliver on our plan properly and for that, we need to get a better sense of what you think of the game versus what we are attempting to deliver. For now, our focus is entirely on gathering early feedback and bug reports and continuing work on the first big update. More details to come soon! Thanks again, and have fun!
  4. I'm sorry you have gone through this, but let me explain a little bit here. Nothing in a screenshot is proven. I can't see who any of those players are - or what took place before or after any of these moments. While your situation is certainly frustrating for you, It's not just about what happens to you, but what happens between other players as well and what we can prove. I don't think many people would be surprised to know that a good portion, if not majority of complaints about these sorts of interactions also include additional information about the interaction oftentimes also implicating the person filing the complaint as well as any number of other factors that change or otherwise influence any decision we would make. Unfortunately, it is also quite often that people file complaints over meaningless encounters, misunderstandings as well as outright falsehoods. I am not suggesting this is the case for you, but I am saying that blindly banning or otherwise taking action on an account when all we have to go by is screenshots and complaints is a dangerous thing to do. I investigated your original ticket quite a bit. So much so that I used it to help determine next steps for what we are going to be doing about situations such as yours. Because your complaint does matter and we want better systems in place too. I spent several hours just trying to figure out what I could know conclusively about your complaint as well as a few others. Unfortunately what can be proven, is very little. DST operates under the assumption that we are not directing people to play with each other. If players are unhappy playing public games, they should move to private games. To operate a moderation team and tools to monitor private servers is questionable and unfeasible for a studio like ours. I do not have a solution to your issue, at this time. But we are working on something. Not to moderate or otherwise monitor what happens in your games. But to give players better control over their games. I do usually take these down, but I am going to leave this one up for now - but I am going to remove the screenshots.
  5. Rotwood is coming to Early Access April 24th at 10 am PDT. With the help of our community, we've received super valuable feedback from our focused playtests, and the demo landed us among the most played and wishlisted games of Next Fest. We've been hard at work to prepare Rotwood for the next phase of the development with Early Access, a process we've used since 2012 with games such as Don't Starve and Oxygen Not Included. We love building games alongside our fans and this one is no different. Once again a huge thank you to everybody who has participated during the playtest or checked out the Next Fest Demo. We couldn't be here without our fans and we look forward to continuing this journey through Early Access and beyond. General FAQ How much is it? Rotwood will release with an Early Access price of $10.99 usd. This price will be raised through Early Access until its final price to be determined at launch. We do this as a reflection of the content available in the game also being less than launch and in appreciation of your support. What Platforms? Right now Rotwood is available on Steam PC only. More platforms will come throughout Early Access but we do not have an ETA at this time. What Languages? Shortly into Early Access, we will provide support for community-created language packs. In addition to this, the game will have a set of official translations although the list of languages available at launch has not yet been finalized. Early Access FAQ Why Early Access? “Since 2012, Klei has used Early Access as part of our process to gather feedback and develop in collaboration with players, producing games like Don’t Starve Together, Oxygen Not Included, Invisible, Inc., Hot Lava, and Griftlands. By releasing this game in Early Access, we hope to continue to grow our community and get more people involved in its development.” Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access? “We still have a lot more in store for Rotwood, and we plan to continue growing and updating the game throughout 2024 and into 2025. Our Early Access periods generally last from one to two years.” How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version? “The plan for the full version of Rotwood is to add more Bosses, Weapons, Armor, Biomes, and customization options. The game has most major features in place and we expect that most of development time will be focused on additional content and complementary systems. Toward the end of Early Access, we will focus on additional quality-of-life and fine-tuning to prepare for launch. Mod support and language options are also very important to us, so we expect to have workshop support and additional supported languages by launch or shortly after that.” What is the current state of the Early Access version? “The Early Access version of Rotwood releases with 4 Biomes each including a unique final Boss and Mini-boss encounters. Players can select from 4 major weapon classes, each with their own unique fighting style. As players progress through the Rotwood, they will unlock new weapon variations, armor, powers, biomes, and various customization options for their character and their town. Combat in Rotwood is designed to be deep and rewarding, with a high skill ceiling. Mastering each weapon class, armor, power ups, biomes and 4 levels of difficulty per biome, we expect the Early Access version of the game to provide anywhere from 10-25 hours of gameplay. Completionists may find they spend many more to take on Rotwood's toughest challenges.” Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access? “Yes, the price of Rotwood will increase in steps during the Early Access period, as well as when the game officially launches out of Early Access. Initially, the price has been set for the current content and playtime available in Early Access. As we continue to add value to the game throughout Early Access, we will be incrementally raising the base price at key milestones. We want to ensure players who support the game early on get the best value, while also fairly reflecting the increased scope and content as development progresses. Rest assured we will provide ample advance notice before any price increases take effect.” How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process? “Player feedback is critical to our development plans in Early Access. While we have a creative vision for the game, it is important to us that we coordinate with players to ensure that Rotwood delivers what players want from the game. We have several ways for players to reach out to us with suggestions, feedback, and bug reports: We have a feedback tool from within Rotwood. Just press F8 and send us your thoughts, bugs, and suggestions. The majority of our player communication will be on our forums here: https://forums.kleientertainment.com Our Discord can be found here: https://discord.gg/klei We also post regular status updates as well as long-term development goals throughout Early Access to keep players informed of the development team's priorities and plans for future updates.” Welcome to Rotwood The world has been thrown into chaos, and it's up to you and your friends to battle the corrupted beasts of the Rotwood. 6. We found the cause of this issue and are working on a fix. Thank you.
  7. Without getting lawyers and licenses involved, the only permissions we can provide are contained in the player creation and modding guidelines. https://support.klei.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029556052-Modding-Guidelines https://support.klei.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029880791-Player-Creation-Guidelines
  8. Keep posts on-topic and without personal attacks. If you can get along with somebody, put them on your ignore list and move on.

We'll see you soon!
  10. We give timelines when we know the timeline. This is the same for all of our games. We don't give public dates that we aren't solidly committed to. In this case, as we said previously, it was going to take a while because we don't have a dedicated team for Don't Starve and it's a substantial update, not all of which just translates directly to console easily. That being said, the update is currently in testing and will be submitted for approval "soon". We don't know anything beyond that at this point right now.
  11. We attempt to let people say what they want to say unless it gets too unruly. It does make for a forum that's a bit more spicy. But that goes through phases. And ultimately it's more important that people can say what they want to say. We're probably a bit too permissive. But I would rather it be too permissive than too restrictive. We have had an understanding for a while now. We're not going to argue with players and we're not going to justify our actions. We'll clarify things when needed and we'll explain some things when we think it will help. But mostly, we respond through the game. It could be done differently. We could talk more and be more explicit, but really I think the result would just be more argument. We can't make everybody happy all of the time. The hope is that people can figure out that it is more productive to discuss things in a reasonable way. We're not going to babysit or tell people how they need to behave to get along with other people. What I really wish people could do is remember that this is just a video game. It's not worth fighting with other people about it. I get that it's a thing you love and you want to protect it- we love it too. But we're all here for fun. But just a little bit of advice for the forum regulars. Please remember. This game has been around a long time. Whatever we're working on at the moment is neither representative of a whole new direction nor is it an example of why nothing is ever going to be what you want. We can only do so much at once. The point of the roadmap is to explain what we're focused on at the time. That changes. And we're always headed toward what we think will give players what they are looking for. (Even if it takes a while) We truly love and care about our community. But we can't do everything all at once. We can't make everybody happy all the time. We also do not react to everything immediately. We consider our roadmap a promise and we do our best to follow through with that. No single roadmap or update made DST what it is. And throughout development we have gone through these cycles with players as new groups come and go. What the game needs now is not what the game will need next year, and so on. I won't ask for the benefit of the doubt. But the history is there. And it would be pretty cool if people on these forums could discuss their thoughts like people who are all part of a group that loves something enough share their ideas and less like adversaries that need to get everybody to agree with them. People that disagree with you aren't going to ruin your game.
