So I would say low priority on getting a mechanism to safely harvest unless you are very close to the amount of water production you need. I would probably leave it plugged up unless you have literally nothing else for your dupes to do or you need about 50 g/s more water to make your base sustainable. I believe it is the second least useful geyser in the game, followed by the CO2 geyser. CO2 geyser is definitely more useful, at least it gives tiny amount of cooling and slickster feeding, which means you can just dig it up and leave it there, while hot steam geyser will mess up the heat around while providing nothing. Depends on it's placement inside the asteroid. If it's up near the Surface, you should suck it up with Pumps into Pipes rather than letting it drift. There are actually 2 variants of CO2 geyser, one -50C and one at 500C like the hot steam geyser. Not to worry though, the SHC of CO2 is so low, and the mass output is so low that 2-3 wheezeworts is plenty to bring it down to a normal temperature. Same with hydrogen and hot polluted oxygen vents.
