psusi
I thought I had seen some designs posted on the forum that involved using a mesh tile with some gas above it and liquid falling onto the tile. That supposedly only allowed the liquid to flow down through the tile and would compress it to the point that it would pressurize the liquid to ridiculous levels, either storing it in confinement with doors, or forcing it up a long vertical shaft. I thought I would use this to let the water drop from my steam vent and force it up into a storage basin, but the water seems to be flowing backwards. What's the deal? crypticorb
You must be referring to @Saturnus's infinite liquid storage system. The key part of this build is the lip over the uppermost vertical door, and the two gasses down and to the left of it. When liquids flow into the top (from the geyser in this picture), they flow under that ledge and "waterfall" through the two gasses. The liquids never actually occupy that space, they sort of teleport from the top of that door to where the mesh tiles are. Those two separate tiles of gas cannot escape, and the highly pressurized water cannot flow up past them, so the pressure in between those doors just... builds. You could create a zero energy vertical water pump with this method, just by removing where the neutronium is in this picture. The mesh tiles are actually kind of pointless, I'm really not sure for their purpose. I use them, the top one really, to build a storage container on and put oxylite, bleach stone, or polluted dirt in it to create a second gas, or both gases needed in a survival game. Otherwise it can be a bit tricky capturing exactly two gases in the water lock. If you have a gas vent in that spot and fill 2 gases in a gas reservoir , you can send it by a gas pipe. Yeah but then you have to build that pipe in there etc etc. It's just easier to use materials that are all around.
