resetting starmap to latest build

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if we could reset the starmap. My current one is still from the Rocketry update, with fewer asteroids, and it doesn't seem to update the starmap to include new stars. For instance, there should be 2 asteroids within the 10,000km range instead of previously just one. I already tried to deconstruct the observatory to disable the starmap, but the starmap stays active even without an observatory.

EDIT: I made a slight mistake. I deconstructed them in debug mode and left debug mode accidently on. So deconstructing your starmap will disable it...

...but the problem remains that it will not reset the star map. I still only have the same star map.

The build is 289453, as visible on the image. I can remember others having more options too on the 40,000km range.

I just checked the bug reports, and it seems I am not the only one.

This game was started at the Rocket Upgrade build. Just so you know, starting a new game will give you the correct starmap for the current build.

Also, from what I gather is that the location of asteroids on the latest build on the next range only become visible, meaning not even a question mark beforehand, once all asteroids on the current range are scanned. This is also not the case. It's like I am still having the starmap and associated starmap mechanics from the rocketry upgrade, on the current build.

So the starmap is a part of the worldgen? You need to start a new game to get more planets? That kinda ruins my plans for my latest colony tbh. Ah well

I started the game in the RU and the map upgraded from 4 planets to the one above when i upgrade to the development version. I don't think is needed to start another map.

Unless the starmap gets reset, through an update or other means, you'll actually have to. If you load up a new game and go into debug mode, you'll immediately notice 2 asteroids on the 10k range, not just one. Plus the mechanic of planets/asteroids of not being visible until closer ones are scanned, is not currently enabled on my build.

I do think I got more asteroids at one point; I just can't remember if that was on rocketry upgrade or the current preview build. So it might just be a bug which can be fixed. Again, it's already reported.

So in short, these 2 changes from 289453:

Added another planet at the first distance

Distant unanalyzed planets are hidden until closer ones are discovered

Currently do not work for pre-289453 worlds, but do work for new worlds generated in 289453.

I really hope that the upcoming update is backwards compatible...

So with the latest game update. Do we know if we will need a reset?

So far as I'm able to tell, you'll only need to reset if you want the shove voles. Everything else is game mechanics, new structures, or external from the home asteroid.
