WanderingKid
So, after a little experimentation and abuse of the scheduling system, I poked around at trying to eek a few more early morale points out of my dupes via showers. You get +3 morale for showered. This is enough to break the 12+ morale deadlock before you either seriously décor spam or use food. Great Hall 6 + Showered 3 + Barracks 1 + washroom 2 + 3-shift break 2 + dupe 1 - 1 mealwood -1 décor. That will average you to 12 - 14 depending on your décor spam. Play on Fatalistic and you'll see the difference quickly. The problem is that showered falls off at the drop of a hat. After you dupe has slept, they lose showered. If they get grimy, they lose showered. Apparently even being near water that day will make you grimy. I don't know exactly what causes grimy, but the only dupes I could find that were not grimy, were sleeping right after a shower. So, some more interesting bits of the scheduling system: Dupes will not sleep through leisure time. They wake up to party. Downtime trumps everything. 100% bladder or starving will get a sleeping dupe up, or a partying dupe. Dupes will shower in downtime. Sleep tries to trump anything that's not downtime. Bathroom will only wake a dupe up if they need to go. Once a dupe breaks sleep they won't go back to sleep if they're in a different schedule item So... in the end... showering is still mostly useless, except for extra PH2O. If anyone knows the exact reasons dupes get grimy, can you let me know? I couldn't seem to ferret it out other than the obvious, but it seems like they're getting grimy just carrying their own food around. You also seem to want to have your dupe do downtime, sleep (x2 - x3, depending on if they're missing downtime traveling), and maybe bath for 1 block for the few seconds they'll have it before griming, which is just as good as work time once they start peeing at the water cooler. Since they'll shower during downtime, you'll even get some extra morale for a bit during the evening and their nap, though you'll be using twice the water (2 showers a day). Even the tiny bladder dupes should be able to stay on schedule if they have a two block downtime, as it's not a 100% trigger, it's a 40%+ trigger (afaik). Kazumiya
Like IRL, you get grimy just by breathing and existing, because your body excrete excess heat and water... That's why if you stay 1 full week at house even if you do nothing, you still get "dirty" x) so it makes sense to me that they get grimy by sweating x) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96048-schedules-showered-and-grimy/#findComment-1089613 Share on other sites
Craigjw
May as well have a puddle of polluted water at the door to the showers, this way, you know exactly how long the clean buff will last, which will probably be about 2s less than if there wasn't a puddle on the door... 1 minute ago, Kazumiya said: Like IRL, you get grimy just by breathing and existing, because your body excrete excess heat and water... chemie
Bath time is useless. The first thing they do at break is bathroom and you get a bonus for extra break Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96048-schedules-showered-and-grimy/#findComment-1089683 Share on other sites
Kazumiya
I had a weird bug with showers btw... I had more showers than dupes in my schedule and my dupes were constantly changing switching showers for no reasons... wich is a BIG waste of time -__-' Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96048-schedules-showered-and-grimy/#findComment-1089688 Share on other sites

The first thing they do at break is bathroom and you get a bonus for extra break But it is also pointless not to have bath time. If they wake up and have nothing to do for bath time, they just go to work. I have break time, then 2 hours sleep time, then 3 hours bath time. I feel that time spent running back to base counting as "break time" is good for the morale boost. They spend about the same amount of time doing recreation and bathroom stuff anyway. 11 hours ago, WanderingKid said: If anyone knows the exact reasons dupes get grimy, can you let me know? They become grimy at the end of their sleeping time, as far as I know. They used to become grimy at dawn, but that didn't make sense with the scheduler. So if you want the morale boost from showering, you have to have them shower when they wake up. That is the use of bath time. They can take their shower and feel clean all day, then have downtime before they go to sleep, then sleep through some of their bath time and wake up when they reach 100% stamina, then when they do wake up and take a shower when they wake up. Since they work during bath time if they don't have any bath time activities, they will just go to work after their shower. That's why I have around 3-4 blocks of bath time. 11 hours ago, WanderingKid said: Even the tiny bladder dupes should be able to stay on schedule if they have a two block downtime, as it's not a 100% trigger, it's a 40%+ trigger (afaik). Wait, could I have my dupes use the bathroom more than once per day? If so, then the 6.7 kg excess water you get for lavatory use can be multiplied. Their lavatory use accounts for about 11.2 g/s of oxygen using elecrtolyzers. If I could have them use the lavatory twice, then I could produce 22.4 g/s of their needed 100 g/s. That would be great for large colonies. I will have to experiment. It`s also useful earlygame when you don`t need high morale. 14 hours ago, WanderingKid said: Dupes will not sleep through leisure time. They wake up to party. Downtime trumps everything. That`s interesting. Dupes have a stamina stat that is supposed to make them fall asleep when reaches 0. I wonder if that can happen during downtime. WanderingKid
Some added information: Apparently there's a few places grimy can happen. One is due to time, another is due to having an interaction with either cell of a non-H2O fluid. PH2O, oil, etc... all are grimy creations. I'm still trying to figure out why food was causing it, but don't know yet. 12 minutes ago, Sasza22 said: That`s interesting. That's an override and any sleep in their cot (or whatever) will bring them up to zero, so they'll go party.
