Red alert should affect morale and stress

When using red alert, this should have a lingering debuff for at least a day. It needs a penalty, as in real life, because emergencies do cause stress during and after, and stick with you for a time.

Another possibility is to have a nervous dupe who responds badly to a red alert, maybe he exhibits a stress response during the red alert, or some other unexpected behaviour.

Nah, that's a bad idea. Nowadays you can create a dupe-specific schedule just to force dupes to work instead of going to sleep. Adding extra penalties to the convenient "work NOW" button would be terrible design for no gain.

I don`t see people overusing the red alert for any benefits. Overusing it will cause the dupes to run out of stamina and sleep wherever as well as not eat or use toilets causing more problems and reducing morale as effect. Not to mention skipping downtime. So as you see extended alerts already reduce morale without any changes to the current game.
