Cosmic Space Base Creation Not Possible?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

Not sure where to put this but I was wondering. I thought it would a bit of challenge to build a base close or in the space biome however what seems to be happening is that the heat seems to get out of control. I have added wallpaper to trap the air and even have gone as far to cool down the oxygen. Nothing I do bring down the heat

Am I missing something or is this bug?

The solution would be:

Bunker Tile

Bunker Tile

Insulation Tile

The 2 rows of bunker will prevent the debries to fall through. And the insulation will keep away the heat from it.

But aside from this small problem there is no benefit in building up there.

He wants challenges by building up there, not benefit :p

Check your heat map, and hover surrounding debris mass and temperature. They are your challenge in space.

I'm using worldgen where meteor started since the beginning (early CU preview). About 1/3 map is 300C regolith, along with hot steam, liquid and gas phosphorus. So, I know how you feel about fighting those heat.

As I saw the title I believed the OP wanted to build a space station.

I would soooo love to able to build a flying satellite which needs to be launched by a dupe constructed rocket, to be able to order certain things "From somewhere else" or to enable to exchange goods with other players via the satellite ( me dreaming  ). If a rocket launch goes wrong ( due to players fault ) then the thing drops back on to the base, creating massive damage.

Yeah I had look last night and only notice the surrounding heat is over 250C, this would explain that so cool I'll try to get the extra layers in place to see if this might bring down the heat and keep it stable.

Also weird thing happened to me last night. Had a metal refinery in cold Biome, where most of my PWR is produced, luckily as there is Hydrogen and NG vent in close prox to it. However I noticed that in the metal refinery, the water in there is over +200C which caused the pipe to break. As soon as I empty it out. All that heat transfer caused all water and ice to turn steam, with everything suffering heat damage... got out control real quick. Was actually funny
