How to create a black hole, simple and quick! (bug)

Recommended Posts

Build a box, fill it with your gas of choice. Build walls inside the box. Deconstruct the walls, and voila, instant black hole!!

Why go to space when you can bring space right to your door?

Note: unless you rebuild the walls, this doesnt appear to be reversible. If you build walls inside your colony... dont deconstruct them :)

this is a debug bug not an actual bug

unless its a sandbox bug

Note: by walls i mean the wall item found in utilities, not the regular tiles.

It still works in a perfectly normal game. Here's an example, in a game where debug and sandbox have never been activated, i had a dupe build a wall tile, then deconstruct it. A black hole was created.

Then i built a door on top of it, the leak stopped

Opening the door, the black hole is again exposed

my apologies for misunderstanding

I thought by black hole you meant your game was crashing, what you describe is a situation I have had where in debug if you build things then deconstruct them weird things happen when you unpause and that is a very real bug in debug/sandbox.  This is more like, deconstructing a wall creates a Void spot

Thank you for explaining

So if you do this on the surface, do you create a super void?  And what would that even mean?

Obviously, when they programmed the new backwall tiles, they made them just a little too strong.  They not only disable vacuum suction on the surface, but in fact apply vacuum suction when deconstructed.

Doing this on the surface does nothing, since there is already a void on the back. but down on the asteroid, you can use this to create vacuums where you want to, instead of using pumps.

Of course, this is not intended behavior... but while its possible :)

I've had it happen a few times on my normal game, accidentally and didn't know the cause. (Just spotted rooms draining oxygen and working otu where it was going.) Save/Reload seemed to fix these little voids though, for me anyway.

Yep, it does "fix" it. Which is good news, since you might not want these to be permanent anyways ;)
